Breastfeeding a Preemie

My son was born 9 weeks early and was tube and bottle fed in the NICU. I was able to nurse him at the hospital and the LC said that he was a natural (yay!) and had no trouble latching on. We brought him home after 5+ weeks in the hospital and are trying to breastfeed him at home. He still latches on fine but suckles for a few minutes then falls asleep. I wake him up, he latches on, suckles for a minute and falls asleep. And repeat... This continues for about two hours and we have been at this for almost three weeks - it's more frustrating...

Bottle for Newborn

Hi, I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and went shopping for necessary baby items. But going to the stores only add to my confusion. There are whole bunch of bottles out there. but which one is the best? I plan to breastfeed exclusivelybut still want to have a bottle around for the occasional bottle-feeding. So I am seeking recommendations for bottles which we are easy to switch to and fro from breast to bottle. Also I would like to know which ones are a complete no-no. The brands that I could find are playtex, avent, similac, tommy tippee...

Bottle Feeding/ Breast Feeding

I am intending on breast feeding my child primarily, however when i return to work i'm going to have to pump. Do i have to use specific bottles for pumping or can i use any bottle (i wasn't sure if there was a difference) i'm a first time mom! The main reason i ask, is i have been given like 10 very nice bottle already, some play tex and avent and munchi or something (i'm not sure) people just pre gifting me. Are those ok to use with breast milk? I registered for the medala ones because thats the pump i will use. wow, thanks you...

Similac Checks/coupons Needed

I could really use Similac checks/coupons if you get them and don't use or need them. My baby was diagnosed with a milk allergy a couple of weeks ago and is now on Alimentum. Similac Vs. Enfamil

Hello Mommies! I have a newborn, only 13 days old. We've figured out she has a milk intolerance so we started giving her Similac Alimentum formula about a week ago. Since, she has gotten better but now, about 20 mins after she eats, she goes through a rough period where she obviously uncomfortable, inconsolable crying, squirming, grunting, etc. I have heard that Similac products are harder on their systems than Enfamil products. Hi ladies, I am wondering if any of you have had the experience of using both of these brands and can help me make a decision on which to go with. I used Similac Isolmil Advanced with my daughter but just read a study that the Enfamil ProSobee Lipil has higher levels of nutrients in it than the Similac. Similac Advance - Formula Question

Since our baby was born, she was breastfed, but needed a supplement. We continued using the formula we started on in the hospital - Similac Advance. She has been doing great with the 'ready to go' kind, getting less than 8 oz. a day supplement. I recently bought the Similac Advance 'Early Shield' variety. She has had non stop gas - starting 5 min. after she ate! I hate to think her little tummy is hurting because of it!
