I remember awhile back seeing some great responses to a question about a good homemade "dough" recipe to make things to bake - dry out. I cannot find it! Would you ladies please help me. I use the "koolaid" recipe for our normal playdough and love it! What I need now is a good recipe for a dough that we can make small scuptures with, dry/bake it and then paint it.

Thanks to anyone who can help me!!!

Thanks for the tips so far ladies, but I really need one that is for drying/baking and then painting - like the kind you would use to make ornaments or something.

What can I do next?

This is a GREAT little book to have! We have used it so so many times over the years and bought several of these used copues to give to nieces. My daughter has one (shes almost 17) we got when she was young, but refuse to pass it along as we still use it!

It is a 3 ingredient recipe. Also...the AG book I posted above shows great tips for making foil centers, so it bakes right and quickly. We have made many of the things in the book and other "freestyle" things. I actually have a curly painted sheep in my deep-set kitchen window right now. Its been there about a year since last summer when my niece and nephew spent a week here (I do home daycare but never really have school age kids..my teen daughter helped keep them creative and busy with things like this!) Its a great little shelf-sitter!

I highly recommend getting a copy of the little American Girl book and not letting it go! Then get many shades of Acrylic paint from the craft store! Also some decent paint brushes (including some teeny weeny ones for doing stripes and polka dots and little fancy details..that seems to be the part the 7-10 year old loved the most with the painting..details!) We love this project!

Have fun!
