We have stayed at the T Bar M Resort for 3 years in row now and love it. It's very close to the rivers and the Caverns. You can view the place online. I think it is www.tbarm.com
They have deer on the property too
Planing a trip to New Braunfels but don't know the best place to stay. Has anyone been there and know of a nice but economical place to stay at?

We stayed in the Suites Inn, it was around $160.00 which during summer is a really decent price. Have u consider Gruene,TX... they have some great bed & breakfast, they are a little pricier $230.00 +/- with a really nice breakfast and you can always visit their little shops.. it soo nice. About the Comal river, if you can avoid floating it during the weekend, the people is not very nice, with more than 1 drink in their system and saying some really bad words. In my opinion, I just wouldn't like my kid around that. If you are going to the water park, you can take a cooler with "Snackables" and fruit or whatever your family like. As long as you don't take any alcohol you can take anything and that way you can save a lot! Good luck and get a lot of sublock... Have fun!
I used www.rivercityresorts.com...we rented a house right across the street from Schlitterbahn and within walking distance from the Comal. I think we stayed in Oma's house...or something like that.
They were great to deal with...and the place was clean. It was nice being able to cook, and not have to go out to eat.
I like to have a kitchen to cook in and prepare some of our own meals, so I always rent a condo when we go to New Braunfels. I've found them at vrbo.com. They are all independently owned, but there are pics and you can contact the owners with questions.
We stayed at the Comfort Inn Suites right off the highway - it was very very clean, decent breakfast (had eggs, bacon, good coffee, juice, cereal, danishes). It wasn't too far from New Braunfels (Schlitterbahn, Comal was maybe 5 minutes away). I think we paid $135 per night for 2 queens with a fold out couch. When we were eating breakfast we visited with an elderly couple that stay there several times a year and like it better than other hotels they've tried in the area.
If you enjoy camping try Landa RV Park in new Brunfels on Market street

We've been to Schlitterbahn and they have hotel type rooms there. You could try there and maybe ask what others hotels are in the area? We've never stayed at Schlitterbahn, however it would be great if you are going to go there, it would be convenient. Don't know prices, might check the Schlitterbahn website for prices.
We had a time share resort and stayed at one there near New Braunfels. If you don't mind getting their speel, you might be able to call them up and see if you can get a weekend pass there to try it out. It was out in the country where it was more secluded. My Father-In-Law has a time share, if you are interested I can check with him and see if he is willing to rent it out for a week. Will have to make sure there is availability also. It has a kitchen, den and they have a swimming pool and golf. It was pretty and fun there.
I've been to New Braunfels and there are lots of hotels around Schlitterbahn and the interstates. I don't know anyone that lives there though. Maybe checking New Braunfels city website or calling the Chamber of Commerce? They could send you coupons, maps, things to do,etc... Maybe a travel agent could help you?
