There were a lot of amazing women who messaged me on here when i needed help and advice I just wanted to do a quick update if anyone wanted to know. My Feb 15th due date is now non existent. My blood pressure and sugar dropped and I blacked out and had an emergency c-section to save me and my baby girl.I had a daughter on December 9th 2008. She was very early and had 3 surgeries on her chest and her heart and is now heading home with her daddy. I am still in the hospital after the c section i had 2 more surgeries because i went into kidney failure and will be here for at least another week.

Wow, what a rocky ride you have had! I wonder how you are feeling emotionally after having gone through so much. I suspect that you will be recovering for a while and hope that you have some support while you are going through this, while having a preemie at home. Please let us know how it is going, and if you need some advice, you certainly know where to turn! All the best, and congratulations on the birth of your little girl! What did you name her?

Lacey,
I will say a pray for you. I'm so glad that your daughter was able to go home with her dad. I had a C-section 4 years ago when I had my son. I stayed in the hospital for an entire week because I had a temperature. You will be home soon. Try to get some rest and stay off your feet for a few days. Your recovery will go quickly.
I'll keep you in my prayers. Please send an update to let me know how you are feeling as well as the baby.
God bless

Welcome to motherhood. Not such a fun introduction for those of us who get the medical drama version of labor and delivery rather than the perfect fantasy version. My son had breathing problems at birth and was on a respirator for 2 weeks (even though he was full term). It was difficult and scary at the time but it didn't last forever. My son is almost 3 and is thriving (he was doing pretty well after only a few months and off all medications and everything before 9 months). I have known a few friends with premature babies who did do well after having some time to catch up. You got a more difficult beginning than most but you can still be a great mom. The silver lining for us was how much emotional support we got from friends and family and how it brough my husband and I closer.
Please do make sure you take good care of yourself. If you can find a way to get some extra help (doula, baby nurse, even a neighbor or friend who can be a mother's helper) in the first few weeks do it. It is so much harder to deal with a baby when you are exhausted and not feeling your best.

Oh, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I will be praying for you and my mom wasn't well enough to know that I had all three of my boys and now she went home to be the Lord, but that's okay she knows. Anyways, you take care of yourself while in the hospital and to remember to take care of yourself when you get home. A healthy mother can take care of her healthy baby. If you're not well, then who will care for your baby as well as you? Also, before you leave the hospital, find out where mother support groups you can get connected with because motherhood is hard, but with support, it makes it bearable and get information for hotlines to call if in stress at the moment at home too. My oldest who was early was born on Dec. 9th as well. How about that?!!But, enjoy her because she's part of you :) I am sooooo happy for you and get well and I will be praying for you and lifting up prayer for you as well. Jesus loves you and your baby girl and Jason. IF you want to chat, e-mail me and I'll get back to you.

Dear Lacey,
Congratulations to you and your baby girl for making it through! It also sounds like have a wonderful fiance and like you and your little one both got great medical care.
Just a few thoughts about your first few weeks at home: I think you'll do a wonderful job, but caring for a preemie can be hard, especially when you're recovering from major surgery yourself.
I really like Star's suggestion of looking for a senior citizen volunteer, who might want to "adopt" you guys. You might also look into hiring a postpartum doula. Doulas specialize in caring for postpartum moms -- they can prepare special, nutritious meals for you, which will help you recover your strength; they can help with specialized infant care, which your daughter may need. Here's a link for the Doulas of North America: http://www.dona.org/. Doula services CAN be expensive, but try describing your situation. You may be able to find someone with a sliding scale.
Congratulations, and best wishes!

Hi Lacey,
I'm so happy that your little girl is home. My first baby came on December 11th without the complications that you've had and it was overwhelming so I can't imagine what you're going through. Be sure to say yes to help whenever anyone offers, sleep whenever the baby sleeps, and don't worry about your TO DO list...it will all still be there tomorrow. One thing that has been a huge help to me as my children have been small is joining MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). At www.mops.org, you can search for a local group in your area. Most Mops groups offer childcare while you meet with other moms. It's only for a couple hours twice a month but the support network that you develop is unbelievable. Many Mops groups also have a Mops Mentor....usually someone who is older and has raised her children, someone that maybe you could go to for advice, etc. I will pray for you that you are home soon to be with your new family and that everyone stays healthy.
In His Love,
D.

Hi Lacey,
God bless you.
I had no mom or mom figure when I gave birth to my daugther.
It made my husband and I much closer and we're still very, very close today - fourteen years later.
You have your own family now.
I wish you all to grow closer, love each other deeply and never ever take each other for granted.
Good bless, Good bless.

Congratulations, Lacey! Not the most ideal way to have a baby, but as all mothers know, it doesn't matter how a baby enters the world or your life. Motherhood is all about what happens afterwards. So take good care of yourself - and that includes finding a mother's group for companionship and support - and enjoy your new baby. What's her name??

Take this time to rest and eat well. The stronger and healthier you are when you go home the more you'll be able to care for and enjoy your beautiful baby girl. In a few months, when you are both strong, seek out other moms whenever possible. This site may help you find groups in your area.
Many prayers are with you. Best wishes!

Congratulations on your new blessing! I am so sorry that it was a harder than usual delivery, but you sound like you are on the road to recovery and so is the baby! Remember, you are stronger than you think and you will be fine! You have all of the Mamas here, you have Jason, you have your beautiful new daughter and as you will soon see, you will meet other moms who have children of similar ages. Before you know it, you will have TONS of girlfriends too! Girlfriends save the day ALL the time! And let us be your Mom figures, we are happy to do it from the outpouring of support I read here. You are going to be great. If you ever have a doubt about what to do, do as Jiminy Cricket says, "...and always let your Conscience be your guide!" Much love goes your way, especially during this holiday season. Remember, you have been given the greatest gift of all! YOU ARE GOING TO BE GREAT AT BEING A MOM!

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby girl. I'm sorry you and your daughter have had a rough time. I had a similar situation with my first. I was in the hospital a week during her second week of life. I almost died....I was lucky because I had great people caring for her, even when I went home. I needed 2 months to fully recover, I was very weak. I imagine you might be in a similar situation. Please take care of yourself, otherwise you won't be able to care for your child. I hope that you both recover quickly and are able to enjoy this special time.

You, your fiance are your daughter are your family now. I'm sorry you don't have a mom figure but there will always be women out there to suppor you. You are a mom now, how exciting and you will be fabulous I'm sure! We all have difficulties, we all get scared, we all don't know, we all feel alone even if we have someone so don't feel you are lacking or that you are alone. Congratulations! Have you considered talking to some volunteer programs in your area? There are many senior citizens out there just aching to "adopt" a grand baby like yours! There might be a chapter of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in your area. You could also ask a social worker or contact your local community foundation for ideas about how to connect with a senior. You could cheer up an elderly person while getting some of the "family" attention that you crave. Really, you should check into this possibility. It could make a big difference.
I hope that you and your little girl heal quickly. Merry Christmas!

Lacey,
First of all congratulations on the birth of your daughter and second of all, you will do fine as a mom - you already are. My mom passed away 3 wks before my oldest daughter was born - somehow u reach deep inside of you and pull out this amazing amount of strength you never realized you had. I sure hope that you health improves because I'm sure you can't wait to be with your little girl.
Keep your chin up and just realize that you are doing the best that you can. Being a mom has kicked my behind (my girls are 11 & 5) but it is the most rewarding thing you can ever imagine. Just the little things that go on when they are so little, the first time they recognize your voice, how they nestle up in your arms, the way they smell and then somehow they turn into tweens & drive you crazy!
Good luck and if you ever need any advice or anything, email me @ ____@____.com - i'm no pro but i've made it this far!
