Since all of the rain we have been getting eaten up with mosquitos. We live in the country. I am looking for something to spray in the yard. I've also thought about one of the propane mosquitos things. Has anyone found something that works great in the yard against mosquitos??

What can I do next?

might sound crazy but mixing half water and half Avon Skin So Soft bath oil will work. you mix equal parts and just spray a light spray in your yard!. keeps almost all bugs away! you can also put a little on yourself before you go outside and it will repel mosquitoes. Avon offers a 100% return guarantee if you are not satisfied. Check out my website!

We have an organic yard, so we get the big jug of granulated garlic at Sam's for about $18.00 & sprinkle half of it all over our yard/garden/patio. It has seriously reduced the quantity of mosquitos. It can last up to 30 days, but with all the rain this last week or 2 we reapplied after 2 1/2 weeks. It smells like garlic bread for the first day, but then it goes away & still repels the mosquitos. I was thrilled to find something that was chemical-free. We still use natural bug repellant (whole foods) on our baby just to be safe, but our patio is back in business with the garlic. We're out there every night...

Hi,
I recently purchased one of the new Blue Off Brand items that you clip on your belt that runs on batteries. I have used it a few times and it seems to be working.

Also, I have recently heard that if you put a Bounce Drier Sheet in your pocket it can help keep mosquitos away. I haven't tried this yet.

We also have a large wooded yard and the mosquitos were awful for the last couple of days.

I have a plant on my deck that is a cintronella plant....not bad looking and very easy to grow. I use the little candles and oil when we are outside.

We are gearing up for a huge teen party in the back yard and I have a Cutter as well as several other things to have going to try to keep the kids from being eaten up! Also, every where I see standing water.......get rid of it.

Cutter! You can get it at Lowes- 10.00 and a bottle does our front and back yard. It is a spray that attaches to your water hose. We usually have to use it 2-3 times thru the summer depending on the rain. We use it every year and it works.

We have a lot of mosquitoes too, and we're just trying to stay indoors after dark, although it's not that easy. Unfortunately, the Listerine approach is a myth (go to www.snopes.com and type Listerine in the Search box).

I've heard of folks using citronella with results. It's not as effective as Off! or other products with deet, but it is safer.

I have heard of several things but I have not tried them and I'm not sure if they work. Supposed to though. One is to take dried chopped garlic (like what you buy in the stores) and sprinkle in your yard. This idea is from a natural gardener on TV (I can't remember his name !) Another is to put Listerine in a spray bottle and spray around where you are at. I don't know how much yard space you have to treat though. Good luck - I'm with you - I'm tired of getting eaten up !
