Ford Escape or Santa Fe --- 2013? - Mystic,CT

I am dreaming about getting a new 2013 SUV.

I like the 2013 Ford Escape and the 2013 Santa Fe.

They are both better on gas than my current car.

Maybe it will be best to shop for one in October---when they have to move them off the lot !

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am holding off on any vehicle purchase right now. I drove a friend's car the other day. I can't be that low to the ground.

I would never buy a brand new car. Too much depreciation! (Unless money is no object!) we buy 2+ years or older vehicles and we don't finance vehicles though!
We like Ford products, but I found the Escape to be smallish & awkward. Not sure if I'd buy a Hyundai though. My inlaws have had lots of issues with their car (Sonata).

Escape!
Just bought the 2012 and LOVE it.
LOVE the sync and the sat radio.
Escapes have great longevity. Definitely wait until the end of the year when the 14s come out you'll be able to find 13s with no miles on them for used prices.

With your need to be green - why are you going for a "car"? Why not go for a SMART car or a PRISM, Fusion Hybrid?

Buying a "new" car means you will lose a ton of money the minute you drive it off the lot. Why not go to the dealership and ask for the cars that have been used by the dealership - still current year models - but they can't sell them as new?

Close the door of the car...find out which one "closes solid" - doesn't sound flimsy......Ford is trying to mimic Honda - so the Escape looks a LOT like a new model CR-V. The Hyundai Santa Fe is a mirror as well - so I would choose on cost....and other factors...

I don't own either. I have a Honda Odyssey and my husband has a CR-V. I have one friend with an older Escape. And don't know anyone that drives a Hyundai off the top of my head!!

Good luck!! Buying a car is fun but overwhelming!!!

I had a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe and and got hit on the drivers side at a 4 way stop by a man that ran the stop sign. We think he was going about 35-40 miles per hour. He was driving a large Chevy van.. Both front and passenger driver's side air bags deployed. The passenger window blew out. The driver's side door could not be opened and the car was not drivable at the screen. I was driving and both of my son's 3 and 5 were in their cars seats in the back. None of us were injured. I got a few bruises and that was it. This happened last week and I think I will be getting another Santa Fe. It is a very safe car. We are so lucky we were not injured. Good luck with your car search
