L.!.
My favorites are
G: Jael
Jael is the heroine who kills the enemy general Sisera.
B: Jared
Jared was the third son of Adam and Eve.
We are expecting #3 and I am coming up blank for names (like usual) and thought I would ask for help this time.
We want Biblical/Hebrew names for both boy and girl that CANNOT BE SHORTENED into a nickname. Give me a list because I am sure someone is bound to come up with a few names I haven't yet thought of.
Thanks! :-)
To Shira P.: Our children are Joshua and Sarah.
My favorites are
G: Jael
Jael is the heroine who kills the enemy general Sisera.
B: Jared
Jared was the third son of Adam and Eve.

Whatever you decide remember these days people will always think they have a right to alter your child's name. We have Joshua and people will always try to call him "Josh", we always reminded people his name is Joshua, he also will very nicely ask people to call him Joshua.
Best Wishes!
My mom liked the name Hannah for a girl (that was me...but my dad liked L. better)
My brothers are Joel, Nathaniel (Nathan), Zachary, and Daniel. All the names (except for Joel) can be shortened...but they never have been. We call them all by their full names.
For my boys...Elijah and Ezekiel were two that I went back and forth on...Elijah won.
Cannot be shortened may be a problem
since just about ANY name can be shortened
one way or another . . . except Ham or Cain.
Some of my favorite names are Joshua, Michael, Gabriel, Zachary, Ethan, David, Shoshana, Dinah (Deena), Raquel (Rachel), Chava (Eve), Tamar, Tsiporah . . . . will probably add more later as they come to me.
It might have been helpful if you had told us the names of your two children.

========================
Yes, Caleb is in the Bible. Probably in Exodus.
Forgot Naomi. One of my favorite names.
The Spanish version of Naomi is Noemi.
=========================
Salome for a girl; Asher for a boy.
I love the name Gabriel (even though it has a nickname, Gabe, which I also love), Eli, Caleb (not sure if it's Hebrew), Ariel, Eden (not sure if Eden is biblical/Hebrew, but it sounds like it is!)
Good luck!
I love Isaiah and Israel....Isaac is nice too!!
Meg
Joshua Timothy
Samuel Aaron
I love Rachel and Sarah for girl names.
My sons are Josh and Sam :)
Here is a website with biblical names...http://www.biblical-baby-names.com/
Congratulations on #3!!!
My sons name is Isaiah. ALL names can be shortened! Or ryhmed with something, or turned into a bathroom word, or something else we try to avoid. The biggest downfall to Isaiah is it is difficult to spell - for everyone involved. His dad even mispelled it on his 2nd birthday cake!
I know that what I am about to suggest can be shorten but it is so meaningful to me that I have to suggest it.
What about
Samantha Marie
It literally means God heard Marie
Naomi and Miriam are two of my favorite girl names -and from the Old Testament.
Jerushah is a favorite of mine. It means inheritance. Anything can be shortened. I named my second daughter Lydia because I thought it couldn't or wouldn't be shortened and my sister-in-law started calling her Lyd....aaaargh! Lydia, obviously, is a favorite of mine....I have a friend named Jael. An old testament heroine....
Jared and Asa were my picks but we never had any boys...
