How Much Schoolwork Do Your Kids Do in the Summer??

I have a kindergartener and a first grader. I will probably be home with them full time this summer. I might possibly work 2 days a week. On the days I am home, I plan on having them do 20-30 minutes of schoolwork per day. Maybe a bit of math, some writing... We always read before bedtime.. I read to them they read to me. My kindergarteners teacher told me to challenge him at home as he was above grade level for reading and math. 14 Year Old That Has a Lot of Headaches

I have a 14 year old son that has headaches quite often. He wears glasses, so that is not the problem. He comes home from school daily with a headache. I have taken him to the doctor and they have no answers for me. Does any one have this problem. He has had them on and off for 3 or 4 years now.

Would You Let Your Just Turned 11 Year on a Plane Alone?

My son has the opportunity to go to camp in northern Wisconsin. He went last year and loved it. We drove him there and home to Texas. It is too expensive to drive now...so the only way he can go if if I put him on the plane in Austin for a nonstop flight to Chicago where a camp person will meet him at the plane. Would you let your 11 year old entering 6th grade boy do this?

Summer for a 12 and 10 Year Old - Leave Them Home Alone?

So my friend has 2 kids - a 12 year old girl and a 10 year old boy. As a family, they take two weeks off during the summer. For the other 6 plus weeks, she plans to leave them home alone while she and her husbad work 9-5 Monday - Friday. There are camps they can send them to that are not expensive (money is not an issue). They will likely go to a one week camp (for sports) for a week or two but that's it. Would you leave you 12 and 10 year old at home for 4+ weeks over the summer? I think they are insane. I think it's insane...
