No More Naps?

My just turned 2 year old seems to not be interested in naps anymore. I was wondering when your toddler gave up their nap and how did you know it was time?

Naps...morning Or Afternoon

I have a 17 month old little boy. Always been a great sleeper (10-12 hours at night) 2 two hour naps each day). Over the past 2-3 weeks he has really struggled with naps; he is VERY tired within 2 hours of getting up in the am, so he goes down for his morning nap and sleeps for about 2 hours. In the afternoon, he gets tired and I put him down for a nap (it takes a little more work to get him down in the afternoon, using the same routine) and he is up after an hour, but still sleepy. No More Morning Nap

I know that every child is different, but I'm just wondering if some Moms out there can tell me what age your child stopped taking the morning nap and how you made this transition easier? My son is almost 11 months and he sometimes won't fall asleep for morning nap. But then when I skip it and put him down for 1 afternoon nap he takes a really short nap (1/2 hour). Obviously this isn't enough because he becomes really cranky. I don't know what to do.

As an aside - I do know that his teacher rocks him to sleep (or rubs his back) and then places him on his cot where he can sleep soundly for up to 2 hours. However, on the weekend his schedule is totally off. We generally get in the car to head to breakfast on an activity around 9am, at which time he will take a short cat-nap. Because of this nap, he does not seem tired or...
