Nystatin & Diarrhea

We seem to be in a downward spiral of maladies! Three weeks ago, my 6 mo.-old was diagnosed with Thrush. (Which in itself is weird since he's on the older side for Thrush, and I'm no longer nursing.) We were given Nystatin, and after now our third round it has proven to be ineffective. During all of this, he also developed diarrhea, and subsequently a HORRIBLE diaper rash that we're finding hard to battle. Several of you have suggested Gentian Violet, and I've heard it's messy. "Thrush in Baby's Mouth"

Does anyone know a cure for thrush in baby's mouth? I have consulted the doctor several times and she is currently taking nystatin which she has been on since week 2 and she is now 7 weeks old. The doctor says her immune system will have to get stronger to fight it off. Everything on the internet says it should go away in a few weeks, but it hasn't. I've read about giving her glycerin on one website by rubbing it on a cotton ball and then on the patches.

Hello, My son is three and a half months old and we have been dealing with small amounts of thrush in his mouth since his 2 month check up.
