I'm still pretty new to Missouri and not too familiar with all the different locations. I wanted a outdoor wedding venue that I could have both the ceramony and reception at. As far locations I'm looking at St. Louis up through St. Clair area. I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks a bunch.

What can I do next?

Hi S.,
I actually had an outdoor wedding planned & ended up having to have it indoors b/c of rain, but I guess that's the chance we take here in MO.

I would suggest any of the beautiful wineries in Augusta, MO. I had mine at Mt. Pleasant & the view was wonderful & it would've been perfect if I could've had it outdoors. There are so many to choose from out there & most of them work with you on what you want. My only suggestion if you go with this is to make them keep the empty bottles of wine that they serve so you're sure they don't overcharge you. Other than that, I had a day that my husband & I will never forget. Our guests STILL compliment us on how great the ceremony & reception were. Good luck & congratulations!

I had my wedding at the Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park. We got married in front of the lilly pond then immediately following the reception took place in the Palm House which is a turn of the century green house.

Botanical Gardens are beautiful. Lots of places near by for a reception (including there). Shaws Aboritum in Gray Summit can be wonderful too.

In 1999, We got married on a Friday at the St louis Artist Guild, in Clayton's Oak Knoll Park (corner of Big Bend and Clayton Road). It was July (hot ) but we rented their tent which had ceiling fans. The park view was gorgeous! It was a 6 pm wedding with about 90 guests. Afterwards, we turned around and walked into the bldg for a wonderful catered buffet ("st louis catering" I think) and D.J.ed reception. I can send pics if you'd like.
I will tell u tho, that at 6:05 pm, the biggest storm of July hit and the torrential downpour was so loud , the minister (Mary Callahan) , had to pause. This did make for lots of laughter tho as well as fun memories. The extra money spent for the tent was worth it!!!

Being ne to MO you may not realize that our weather can change in a very short period of time.

I wanted an outdoor wedding and my mother worked very hard at talking me out of it. I am glad that she did, it poured on our wedding day and late into the night. My daughter was determined to have an outdoor wedding. I did my best to talk her out of it. She gave in but resented it. The day of her wedding we had the worst storm of the year. A friend of ours had an outdoor wedding, it was so muddy from the day before that every one had mud on their shoes and the bottom of their dresses.

If you are determined to have an outdoor wedding, go into it with the understanding that you may have to deal with the wet, and mud. Good luck!

We had a beautiful outdoor wedding across the river at Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton, IL. The wedding was right outside the lodge and we had the reception inside. It's about 45 minutes from St Louis.
