What Should I Get for My Babysitter to Use to Feed My Daughter?

We are starting with a new babysitter in like two weeks. I'm wondering what should I buy for her to feed my daughter in? She said she would use her carseat but I dont think my daugther will like that very much so thought about trying to find something used to take to her home for her to feed my daugther in. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

We used the bumbo seat for my son, and it was great. We started with it when he was about 4 months and used it exclusively at first. Even when we started using the high chair around 6 months, we still used the bumbo sometimes, basically until he didn't fit in it any more!

What about a high chair type seat that fits on a kitchen table and can recline if she is not sitting up good yet... you can find them on craigslist or at a resale shop...

We have one of those high chairs that attaches to an adult chair (excellent condition). It is in our garage sale that we are doing this coming weekend - all proceeds go to our Breast Cancer 3-day walk. We are in Highland Village. Let me know if you are interested and I can pull it out for you. We also have some great Leep Frog toys in there that are used but still have the original packaging.

I bought an inexpensive plastic seat with a tray at Babys R Us. It has straps that you attach to any chair or even sit on the floor. It folds up really compact and is easy to store or transport. Also, you can put it in the dishwasher. With my first son, I used it to travel and go to other people's house. Just kept it in the trunk for emergencies. I liked it so much, that I got ride of my regular high chair and only used it for my second child. I have kept one still to use when my niece or nephews come over. I think they cost about $20, but I even found one at a garage sale for $5.

We love the 4 stage reclining infant to toddler seat by The First Years. We used this seat from the time my son was born and he still uses it to eat breakfast in and he's now 3 y/o. Very versatile for us. Good luck!

WAlmart has these hight chairs that you strap on a chair. I put them on card table folding chairs. They are great and when not in use better then high chairs to store. Sometimes are to attach them. I will hook them and also tie them. But they have been a great back up. I think one only cost about $13. I have a day care at home and only 2 high chairs. So when I need more I have a couple of these. I used to watch a little one for a friend. I used a variety of things to feed him...his car seat, me holding him, the exersaucer, sitting on the floor with him. However, if this babysitter will be long term, you should probably look into an inexpensive high chair she can strap to a one of her kitchen chairs. This will make the self-feeding stage much easier.

I have a Christmas baby, too, born 12/25/1980.

A car seat really is a very versatile thing. Feeding your baby in it is probably as easy as anything else.

When she starts on finger foods, you may want to get something with a tray. We used the jumper walker for that.

I purchased a bumbo with a tray off craigslist and it worked perfect for quite a while. We sat her in the middle of the table. Until she started eating solids that is. Then we got a really nice high chair that does several things which is very important.
Oh, then I turned around and sold the bumbo for the same price I purchased it for.
The high chair I got new for just over $200 at babies r us but we recieved a generus gift card that covered it and some other items.

We used a Bumbo to feed our daughter in when we to my parents house. It is portable and easy to store. You can also get a tray to put on it so that she can play with toys while sitting in there. Good luck!

There are small high chairs that you can put on a normal kitchen chair, and they are fairly cheap. We got this one, in addition to our regular one. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3012847

There are some that are only $20, too, if you want one even cheaper. Good luck!

I always found my regular high chair to obtrusive. I really preferred the kind that straps to a regular kitchen chair. They have ones that recline for infants and they can easily be put away when not in use, unlike the traditional kind. They are much more inexpensive as well.

How do you feed your baby? Can she fee her the same way? Otherwise she can hold her since she's just 5 months old, or prop her in a sitting position with blankets in a high chair.

I don't know when they are having the next one, but you can get incredible buys and probably could find a really cheap high chair. I bought a double stroller for my daughter when she had her second child. It was way cheap and almost like new.

Two options:

I used both and loved them each equally. When my son was young (pre 6 months) I used a Bumbo with a tray. Now that he is a little older I use a Chicco Portable High Chair that attaches to the table.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4809...

I have a normal high chair at home, but these were life savers when he went to his grandmas or when we went on overnight trips. The bumbo only works as long as they can't push out of it. The Chicco works great no matter what age. I have even taken my Chicco to restaurants when I knew that we would be there for a while.

Hope that helps.

You might try checking out what's available at the nearest "Once Upon A Child." They sell used baby items and have locations in Flower Mound, Carrollton, Plano, Irving and I think Grapevine or Euless (near their border.)
