What Do You Clean Your Hardwood Floors With?

I have a house full of dark hardwood floors and am looking for some recommendations on products to use to clean them. I have always used a cleaner from Restoration Hardware but they discontinued it and said it was a Bona hardwood product. I have been using the Bona Harwood Cleaner for a while now but it has slowly built up on the floors and they always look smudgy. So now what do I do.........use a stripper to get this cleaner off or just wash them really well but with what? I really don't want to strip away the natural shine the floors have so I need to be careful. Any suggestions? What do you use?

What can I do next?

I use Bruce hardwood cleaner. I have seen it at Cosco in large bottels and at Home Depot. I most recently started using Bona, because I needed to pick up something quickly and it's all I found. I don't think it cleans well, although I haven't noticed buildup yet.

Well I have always used just hot water and a mop. But a few weeks ago, I was using a spray bottle with 2 capfuls of Woolite and then filled up with water, to clean something at my house. When I went to clean my floors, I thought why not, and sprayed the woolite and water on the floor as I was mopping. Oh my gosh the floors look great!! And it seems like they stayed much cleaner for much longer too. They are also shiny. And not slippery either. I would not strip my floors if I were you - you'll probably get into a big mess and regret it. I have used vinegar and water in the past to get gunk off the floors and that works good too but I would not use it every time.

They make a swiffer safe for hardwood - I tried it and it actually wasn't too bad. I just ordered the E-Cloth mop. Most of my friends use that on their hardwood and love it, and I like that it uses only water to clean, no chemicals. Google it and check out the reviews.

Shark steam mop!

If you're a more traditional style mopper, use 1 gallon hot water and 1/4 cup Windex. Works wonders.

Good luck!
