Excuse me for putting such private information on here but you ladies heve been so helpful in the past I thought I would give it a try.Every once in a while I will get an abcess in my vaginal area. They usually last a week or so sometimes longer and then either go away or I get to where i can pop them but they are way to big to be a pimple and i only get one at a time.I know this is pretty gross sorry. My question is doea anyone know what this is should i be worried. My husband is the only person I have every slept with and I had a baby last year where they did STD testing I had nothing. It just scares me and I am wondering if anyone else has gone through this before. Also i dont know if this is connected but i have a couple of moles on my face and every once and a while one of them will get a lump under it.Please help I am vert broke and dont really have the money for the doctor right now,

What can I do next?

Sounds like the same thing I get from time to time. They are just pimples. If it was the exact same spot all the time or if it never came to a head and popped then I would be concerned. Herpes would not be a one at a time break out so you shouldn't worry about that either. Someone psoted earlier to just keep the area dry to help with this.

I get these too on occassion. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've never asked my dr either b/c they go away on their own. I don't know.

I agree with the post about the glands. I had one and it left a little scar in the gland. It is a pea sized bump. It doesn't hurt or anything. At the doctor, he said the same thing I suspected.
The thing with zits, is you usually have more than one and they are usually a little more near the surface. You can pop them as they come to a head, usually a white head. The herpes doesn't come to a head, but will crust over like a fever blister, is hardly ever just one lesion, again are painful but are still in the upper most layers of skin.
I would suspect the clogged or abscessed gland or a sebacous cyst, or abscessed hair follicle. Leaning on the gland hypothesis. The cyst or gland feel "deeper". The oil gland cyst (sebacious) cyst and the other gland also hurt beyond belief, rarely form a head or can be popped. Both glands can be incised and drained.
I would suspect that since you are constantly having a re-occurance, I would go to the OB-gyn. I would have it incised and drained and cultured. And take action accordingly.
Mine started out with what I thought was a boil. Couldn't be popped. Then went away. But left a pea sized knot where it was. The last time I had an exam, I had the doctor check it out, and he said it was just scarring where the little infection had been in the gland. There was nothing to do as it was not infected at the time. And I have not had any problems since.
I would definatley have it checked out only because it is re-occuring and needs to be assessed by the doctor. Could be something easily treatable also, and then there would be no need to suffer at all.
Good luck,
L.

I had something like you are describing when I was pg w/ dd. Mine did go away on its own without ever draining though. It was horriblly painful! I don't see how you can stand it every other week. If you think it is an infection, there are some natural things you can do to boost your immune system. One, take grapefruit seed extract & start taking probiotics (you can find these at health food stores, Whole Foods, or Central Market).

Also, asap,I would save up some money and go to a dr. the next time you get one of these.

Unfortunately, they're zits. I get them when it's really hot. Try to keep the area pretty dry. Use a hair dryer if you have to. I know people that pop em, but I don't, I just keep them dry and wait for them to go away. Don't worry, they're normal.

Are they in an area where you shave? If so they could just be ingrown hairs. These can get large if you don't catch them early.

It's caused by an ingrown hair. I got a VERY bad and painful one when I was pregnant. The doctor confirmed that's what it was. I also get them every once in awhile. No worries.

usually the small abcesses are cause by in grown hairs, but if you pop them unfortunatley you have a chance if getting a staff infections...most people carry staff on their hands and messing with it will cause it to get staff and get really big and hurt really bad. Then you will have to go to the doctor and get it lanced (cutt open) so all the gross stuff can drain. Tell the doctor, and he can give you an antibiotic to clear it up. When they come back its probably in gorwn hairs or heat bumps. Keep the area clean with antibactrial soap and then iodine, that dries it up and keeps all germs and bacteria off of it and. Good luck anyway..

It sounds like Herpes to me. It can lay dormant for years and missed in tests unless you are in an outbreak brought on by stress. Do you notice any cramping or pain in the area?
