Where do you and your husband go when you want to get away for the weekend? Why do you choose that particular place? Do you bring the kids? All ideas welcomed!
If we do a weekend getaway we leave the kiddo's at home either with Grandma or a sitter. We normally leave Saturday morning and are home Sunday early afternoon. I would pick the closest city to you and get on their visitors site and see what they have to offer. Even though you may go there all the time there maybe something new that you haven't heard of.
Rent a condo at "The Lake" and make him take you shopping too! Make sure theres a pool and bring the kids (or not). Fun stuff!
Sometimes we take the kids and other times we leave them behind and another option is to send the kids away and stay at home for adult fun.
When we take the kids we go places that the kids and us would enjoy. Our kids are teens who love being active so we do things like swimming, bowling, miniture golf, roller coaster parks, museums, art galleries, etc.
When we leave them behind and get away ourselves, we really don't plan too much having to do with the outside world. We just need a room, some delicious food, and time alone with each other to reconnect. The conversation is amazing.
We send the kids to relatives or to trusted friends houses where they have fun and we stay home. We watch a movie, eat, and relax. The New York/New Jersey area has so much to offer and to do.
Ideally little boy would be home w/ either set of grandparents ! LOL then we take off down the Cape... that our Fav. place to get away !!!! A lot of times we just 'wing it' especially if its 'off season' and just spend the day exploring having lunch, drinks, stopping at little shops, beaches we've never been to..... then we'll find a hotel on the beach and pop in to see if they have any vacancies...we've had good luck thus far!!!!
ON the other hand if Mikey was coming with us, we'd book a hotel in advance with a nice big Pool and spend the day swimming with him :-)
