Weed?

There have been a very few times that I would've sent a weed. A few responses are downright rude and completely off topic. Once in awhile I've wanted to send a PM to suggest that the person either be more compassionate or not answer. But I haven't done so because just like with trolls I know it won't help to be reasonable with them. Why start a fight? But a weed for a regular member who was having a bad day would give them a hint when they may not realize how they sound. LOL

Weeds would have to be very rarely used to be effective and since that won't happen, no, I'm glad we can't give weeds. If weeds could be given in a light hearted, "hey, think again," then I'd go for it. Won't happen.

Here I was thinking you were going to ask about weed that you smoke!!!!

But no, I prefer to at least try to be nice to others. I'm not always successful, but I try to try :-)

Oh there are times I would like to send one. I'm actually really glad that is not an option, because a few minutes later I would really be disappointed in myself.

I agree that it's most tempting when the poster is being rude. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like people have been kind arrogant lately. It's not enough to say, "Consider this perspective," or, "Maybe you could cut her some slack," or somehow use a bit of tact and compassion. Too often it's, "You need to grow up and stop acting like you're junior high," or "you really sound like a control freak" or "You need to consider someone else's needs." And sometimes it's pretty clear the person didn't actually take the time to read the whole thing.

I admit there have been times when I read the subject line and thought, "Really?" But then I read the post and though, "Ok, now I understand," and realized the person wasn't nearly as dumb as I first thought. But really, my bad for thinking they were dumb to begin with.

I did recently when I posted a question. Ok, I'm really opening myself up to be hurt again, but here goes. Some of the responses really hurt my feelings. People made assumptions about me that weren't true. So I tried to make things more clear, because I know that sometimes I'm not as clear as I think I am. But that seemed to make it worse. There were a few helpful responses, but many of the responses didn't even apply to my situation.

I finally just stepped away from my question (I'm pretty sure there are some responses I never bothered to read, but I will now) and thought, if nothing else I will try to make sure that I am kind when I respond to people. Not saying I won't screw up now and then, but hopefully I will remember how bummed I was and try not to do that to someone else.

No. Because I honestly appreciate ANY person who takes the time to answer my question.

If I notice a respose to ANY question starts to push my buttons, I take a breath and try to understand that response from the poster's pov...... they obviously feel strongly about their reply, so maybe I should take note of what they are saying and consider their pov.

What I DO wish.... is that before someone could ASK a question.... that a popup would come up that says "If you only want validation.... click this button. If you are open to hearing other points of view.... click this button. If you've had unprotected sex.... yes, you might be pregnant. Don't ask"

I see more problems with the posters being judgemental and nasty than the responses.

But I really enjoy the diversity of opinions, and know from experience here that if one person's opinion or response was 'ganged up' on, they'd leave with a shout out.

And then they'd hold a grudge and return as a troll.

My son recommended a bomb option a couple of years ago. The guys would do well with it, the girls would argue for weeks.
