Have you talked to your OB yet? If you haven't, start there. There are many fertility treatments you can try to assist in conception. I've heard that it's very common to have secondary infertility, which is when you have trouble conceiving the second child. Talk with your doctor to see what he/she recommends.

Read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. (website www.tcoyf.com) It will help you understand the complex processes that go on in our bodies every month and let you determine your most fertile days. Also, see your doctor--they can do simple blood tests that will show if your hormones are out of whack for some reason and if so, correct that. Good luck!

My dr told me to take mucinex, it thins all mucus, if you know what I mean, it worked for me!
I am sure you know too, that stress doesn't help - I find some things that you really want, happen after you say "bugger this, I don't want it any more!" In other words, try to relax a little.
I took my tempreture every day, and timed intercourse with that - I bought a basal thermometer from walmart.
It was hard for me to conceive because I have PCOS, and I am sure that in 4 years you have been to the doc to find out if anything is wrong.
If you have PCOS then a low carb diet will help.
My son is 6.5 years older than my daughter, it took us a while!

I would speak to your obgyn about this, he/she can refer you to a fertility specialist. This is very common, it could be on your end or your husband's end. I hope it all works out for you!

Secondary infertility does exist. If you have been trying for 4 years without success then you need to meet with your OBGYN and go from there. There are tests that can be done on both you and your husband to make sure everything is functioning as it should be. Good luck.

A friend of mine and her husband tried for 4 years to get pregnant. She did not want to go to any fertility specialists. So, another friend told her to have sex every day for 1 month, first thing in the morning. She did and conceived her first child (she now has 2 kids). Turns out, she ovulated at a very weird time of the month. I am not sure what you have been doing, if you have charted your ovulation, but I also conceived surprise baby #3 because I ovulated much earlier than normal that month. Try the sex everyday in the morning, and if that still doesn't work, I would go to a fertility specialist. I am not sure if you have insurance or not, but I found out that our insurance actually covers in vitro, so that may be an option.

Have you read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health"? It worked for me, and it's the best book I've come across on getting pregnant. It's so good, it has a 5 star rating on Amazon with almost 1,300 reviews. I recommend it to anyone trying to conceive.

Aww, four years of trying is a long time. People do have secondary infertility. You really need to see a doctor. Hopefully, it will be something they can pinpoint easily and correct and you will be pregnant in a month or so. Best of luck! This must be so hard on you.

Have sex everyday of the month and try to relax and try not to think about it.
Sometimes when we want it so bad, that seems to be all we think about and then it won't happen.

Also, talk to your OBGYN about it.

I wish you the best and God Bless You and Your Family.

Hi T.,
I just wanted to tell you I am in the same boat. I have an 8 yr old son and have been TTC for going on 5 yrs. I have done all the fertility testing and I know I have PCOS. My husband is unemployed now so I've given up for now and just pray that God one day will bless us with another one when its in His time. PM me if you'd like to chat.
