Vasectomies

My husband and I are looking at some permanent birth control methods and I noticed a mom suspected she was pregnant after a tubal ligation and I was shocked to see how many people conceived after having one and many 4 to 5 years after the procedure. As anyone had a personal experience of getting pregnant when your partner had a vasectomy and also if anyone would mind sharing any cons to the procedure?

What can I do next?

I've heard about as many who got pregnant after that as those who got pregnant after tubal.

Well that is a bit of a touchy or should i say sensitive subject. haha. Well I am supposed to have my tubes tied next week....I trust it, my mother had it done and a lot of my family members have too. After m y parents separated my Father got a vasectomy....he complained that it is easier for a woman to have it done(but actually I heard that thats not so) My father's vasectomy was successful and there hasn't been anymore children. BUT...I think maybe vasectomies can decrease sexual drive...i dont think it has been proven. But my Father has been divorced for 6 years and hasnt even come close to a date since then...so make your own judgement call. By the way it is easier to have a tubal ligation right after childbirth. However I have waited...i have a 3 month old. Well Good Luck either way:)

My husband had a vasectomy 6 years ago after our daughter was born. We have not had any other pregnancies since then. He took 2 days off work. One was to have the surgery (actually I think he worked part of the day the day of the surgery). It was an outpatient surgery where only a local anesthetic was used (he was awake for the whole thing). He walked very little the next day with a cane (he had some pain when walking), but by the next day he was fine. He went back twice to check and make sure no "little swimmers" were getting through. Both times came back negative. I don't think his sex drive has been decreased (mine has but that is a different story). Anyway, I hope this helps.

My husband just had a vasectomy 3 weeks ago, so far so good. Message me if you have any questions. I read through all the papers that they gave him at the doctors office that talks about how effective it is.

I think many of the problems they've had with vasectomies in the past, have been corrected. Advances in medical science and all. My grandpa had it done 35 years ago and hasn't had any more children. I'm pretty sure in any case that a vasectomy is easier than having your tubes tied. The healing time is shorter, it's more convenient, it's cheaper.. and from what I've heard much more effective.

We'll be facing the same decision in a few years, so good luck!

My father-in-law had two children after having his vasectomy and he didn't have it reversed. I'm so thankful though otherwise I wouldn't have my wonderful hubby!!!
