My son just turned 2yrs old, 2 weeks ago. He has 4 molars already. And drools constantly. I am sure your daughter is getting her molars. I used to give my son frozen fruit or icecream when his mouth bothered him. It helped a lot.
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows approximately when a toddler's molars come in. We think our 23 month old may have one coming in. She acts like she is teething and the only thing that seems to work is Tylenol. She has been to the dr. recently and was treated for strep a couple of weeks ago and her ears are still red. The dr. suggested Dimetapp for allergy/sinus issues. It works, but the way she is acting right now makes us think she is teething. She was great when the first 16 teeth came in, but she appears to be in a lot of pain now when the Tylenol wears off. There is no way to comfort her and this is a first. She has always been easy to comfort. My Three year old never complained about the molars if they are in, but she was a monster with the first 16 teeth coming in. Two totally different children. Thanks for any info!!

Well one this is for sure that all children do act differently to situations. When my daughters molars started comming in she started to get very upset and biting her stuffed animals when she usually wasnt a biter. I found that a product called Humphry's #3 (I might have spelled it wrong) Helped out a great deal. You can find it in CVS pharmacy or hispanic grocery stores. It works great. My grandmother used it on me, also my first neice and all my neighbors with their children. It comes in a small bottle and it's little suger like pellets very small you can even give it to 3 month olds. It's very cheap and very effective.
Hello!
I am a full time dental assistant, I work in a pediatric dental office. The approximate age for toddlers to begin getting their primary molars is around age 2. Some develop sooner, some later.
My daughter (turning 1 jan 10) got her 1st set of (4)molars at 10months (at the same time!)it was terrible... the humphreys #3 everyone is mentioning really works to soothe them at night (when we need it the most) its herbal so you don't worry about overdosing... it even tells you that you can administer every 30 minutes as needed (but you won't need it that often it really does knock them out)... try giving her a frozen washcloth (yes we're going back to the beginning of teething eeks) it works too... katie has those 4molars 8 more teeth and 4 other teeth coming in so i feel you in the crankiness ...
Well that's probably, it, they're called "2-year molars" b/c they come in around 2 years or so. I agree w/the above on how to help them. Good luck.
humphrees is good- I got it at target- and what I mostly used- very similar- is Hylands teething tablets- can get it at walgreens, cvs, etc- w/ an older teether I gave a lot more hylands than the bottle said to- not that i'm advocating you overdose your baby! just something to consider if you find it works...
also this sounds odd, but some benedryl on the gums- just a drop (to find what a 'proper' dose of benedryl is for your baby by weight go to www.askdrsears.com - this way you'll know you're not giving even near a dose by rubbing on the gums)
