The fisher price travel swing is the best! I loved it because it folded down when not in use and it was easy to carry anywhere in the house. The one we had was the aquarium one and it was great! I was really happy not to have a fullsize swing.
Can anyone recommend a good swing? I am looking for something compact and sleek. All the ones I have looked at are good but so big and have almost too many 'bells and whistles.' Thanks in advance.

Bells and whistles were good for my daughter when i needed to shower! The Fisher Price papasan swing (rain forest design or others) is what me and my husband call "The Magic Swing!" We had a normal, forward rocking swing and she cried. At a friend's house, we put her in this swing and she slept for 2 hours. We bought the same swing the next week!!!
do you mean a swing for baby? if so i will say papasan cradle swing, it s the best (by fisher price)
Hi J., we used the "lovin hug" swing from graco, and loved it! It doesnt take up too much space, the one mobile swung out of the way for easy baby juggling, and the cover is very soft and easily washable. We also liked that it came with 2 different size headrests, and places on the the tray to mount toys, which are easily changed as well. Good Luck, the swing you choose is bound to be your right-hand-man for much of the first 6 mo.!!
I felt the same way you do, I got the Boppy travel swing as a shower gift and loved it. My daughter, however, did not. I ended up borrowing the fisher-Price papasan swing from a close friend (and plan to purchase one of my own when we have another baby). The Boppy swing was great when she was a bit older (2/3 months) and was perfect for when we would visit family, but the Papasan swing is the best for everything else. My daughter is now 6 1/2 mo. and I watch twin 7mo. old girls and all three still sometimes use the papasan swing. Good Luck and Happy Shopping!
I wish someone had told me this when I got a swing -- it doesn't matter what model just make sure it is the "cradle style" so when baby falls asleep he can stay there safely...mine is not a cradle and his head would always fall over when he fell asleep.
if you do mean a baby swing,i agree with christina, the papsan swing is the best!!My son absolutly loved it,it has a little mirror so he could look at himself and boy did he talk up a store to himself!!(so cute),he seemed to be very comftable too!!good luck!!
Hi J.,
I have the travel swing by Boppy and it does not come with lots of bells and whistles. It is small and does not take up alot of space on the floor. My daughter loves it. It comes with 2 plush animals-bumble bee and dragonfly and plays soft music. I really love this swing and would recommend it to anyone. Also it is easy to carry to another room if you need to take a shower or get other tasks done around the house. Hope this info helps.
J.- We found the Fisher Price cradle swing to be the best, mostly because it can swing either side to side or front to back (there were times with our son that one direction versus the other relaxed him better). although it looks big, it does fold up out of the way! Good luck!
Fisher-Price Baby Papasan Cradle Swing, about $100-$120. Worth every penny!!
It's rather neutral in color. No swing is really going to be compact and sleek. They do take up space but this one isn't blazing with colors and noise.
My parents rented this when we were in Florida. The minute we got home we purchased one for our two month old. Wish we had it from day one. It's like a big plush lily pad. You can take the baby out of this while baby is sleeping much more easily than many other types where the baby is more snugged inside the swing.
We already had a travel swing, and another Graco swing. This beats them by a mile. Know that babies like swings on the fast setting. I never even bothered with the slower speeds. Then again, our baby was big and weight likely slows it down.
I got a swing for my baby that is really just a frame that is low to the floor that your infant carseat clicks into. It plays music and vibrates. Folds flat so you can travel easily with it. I picked it up at Babies R Us and it wasn't very expensive (less than $40 I think) but it isn't displayed so you have to look around the swings or ask.
