Does any one use skype on their android phones? do you use the free or paid? how is it? what carrier and phone do you have any tips or issues? All responses welcome. I am debaing on using skype on my phone as opposed to buying a web cam and setting it up on the computer. ANDRIOD phone users only please no iphones bc that really wont help me none. THANKS

I have an htc evo 4g with sprint***** and skype would be for very occasional use

To skype on your phone you have to have a phone with a forward facing camera. Not all of them do. Like skype from anywhere it cost nothing unless you want to use their voip service which acts just like a phone. Not sure why anyone would want to do that over a phone.

You also must have data service through your provider because it goes over the internet.

I have never used the feature on my phone I would rather use my laptop with the big screen and I don't have to hold the darn thing.

Yes. I have the same phone. I use the free version. We had problems as I was driving and talking on my bluetooth. the voice would be slightly garbled as the signal was changing as I drove. I didn't use the camera as I was driving! It works fine for that phone. My only problem was that I couldn't sign out so it looked like I was always 'on'. I took it off my active apps. I can add it back on quickly if I have another occasion when I want to talk to my daughter and her phone is turned off.

As Jo says you need a phone with the correct camera, otherwise your in the same boat as if it was a computer. If you have that, the paid version is a bit better for quality and speed. The lower the speed the longer the lag time and eventually it gets mega frustrating. I just do computer and web cam, cause I can show more, talk better, and its more faster. There I use the free version as well since all my husbands relatives are overseas. I have a brother in the army, and many international friends as well. It just seems to be the best option.
