hi there. i would love to have a nice, overnighter at a hotel the weekend of our anniversary just to get away, etc. grandma and grandpa said they'd come stay w/the kids. a few years ago we did this downtown (dallas) and i'd gotten a great deal of $159 for a Saturday to Sunday w/breakfast and we ate at Antares (that wasn't included, of course). can anyone recommend a nice place for something similar that doesn't cost $300+ ? i've found packages that are nearing $1000!!!

Here's an article I wrote for my blog a while back about getting 4 star hotels at great discounts:

It takes a little time to figure out the "game", but it's well worth it. You won't get a package deal going this route, but the money you might be able to save going this route could be put toward creating your own package of extras. It all depends if there's availability. If something is going on downtown where hotels are booked, you won't get a good deal using this site, but you can get an idea by doing the research you need to do to prepare to make your bid.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Good luck!
my favorite hotel is the omni mandolay in las colinus.they have specials going on right now i think including a very nice breakfast,i just got an e-mail from them .look into getting suite ,they are beautiful rooms ,wonderful beds & service .
Have you heard about the Belmont Hotel in Oak Cliff? It's v. retro chic and I love the vibe there. Beautiful outdoor heated pool, cool decor, sophisticated bar scene. You can either eat there @ the new Smoke restaurant or go to the nearby groovy Bishop Arts are for lots of great restaurants. Don't remember how much the rooms were, maybe $80 night?
Loved it. Good luck!
It seems like I remember seeing seom great weekend rates at the Gaylord recently. Looks very nice, too.
