P.S.
Dr. Glenda Lee works out of West Allis Memorial and I really like her. I haven't used her for pregnancy, but she's very nice.
Hi,
Just found out last night that I am pregrant with my 1st baby :) Its just been under 3 weeks that my husband and I moved to New Berlin, Wisconsin from Chicago. I had a lovely OBGY in Chicago. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go to her but I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with suggestions for a female doctor.
Also, I was looking to have a waterbirth. Is there any hospital certified for waterbirths?
Thanks!
A.
Hey everyone
Thank you to each one of you for taking the time to answer my question.
I'm defi lookin for an OBGYN so I dont think a family doc wud do...but thank you for your advice.
Also, I am lookin into the West Allis Memorial Hosp, since it is so close to New Berlin. I dont have any family so wud like to have the hosp close by. Also, I dont think I can go to Dr. Loree moehring since my UHC insurance doesnt cover it.
Has anyone heard of Dr. Gariti Dominique?
And oh! whats with the doctor and mid-wife. I'm confused:( Does the midwife help you deliver or its the gynac who is also present durin the delivery.
Also...Kate could you advise me which doc is good at the Associated OBGYN (West Allis Hospital) Also the name of the midwife if possible. thanks
Thanks

We moved from Chicago suburbs to Milwaukee in June! None of our hospitals allow water births but many have laboring tubs so you can use that for pain management, you just can't have baby in the tub. I am seeing a family practice doctor as they tend to be a little more natural and less invasive, I see Dr. Claudia Kock and she has come highly recommended by so many other doctors as well as midwives I have talked too. Have you concidered giving birth at a Birth Center with a Midwife? Then you could have your water birth! Congrats and goodluck!

She delivered my daughter and I switched to her. She is wonderful. She'll sit and listen like she's got all the time in the world. She's very present and understanding.
her office isn't far from New Berlin.
Good luck!
I have had both sinopoli and Koch as doctors and they are awesome!!!!! No hospital waterbirths in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I know because I had the last one (and the first I believe) with sinopoli as the dr and Koch actually delivering. I also had Jan wolfenberg as my doula. She was my original homebirth midwife but we ended up in the hospital (no particular reason). Jan is also awesome and delivers at home with a birthing tub (I attended one of her births and it was amazing). She uses both sinopoli and Koch as consulting MD. Jan's website is birthspirit.org. This is very exciting for you! Check out the website to see if homebirth is for you. Either way, Claudia Koch or Renee sinopoli would be great choices. However, neither are OB; they are family docs, if that may make a difference to you. Good luck!
Congrats! I love my docs at Associated OBGYN. They are out of Wes Allis Memorial Hospital, The Women's Pavillion. I'm not sure about the water births, but they do have midwives there and maybe they are certified. I used one of the midwives for my 2nd birth and she was great. Good Luck
I know this is a very late response, but I gave birth to my second child at West Allis Hospital several years ago and it was one of the worst experiences of my life! The nursing staff was about as unpleasant as they could be. When my exhausted husband was sleeping in a cot next to the window, a nurse came in and said " this is a hospital, not a hotel" and flung the curtains open. (My husband is a doctor himself...very unkempt during the delivery, so I think they made assumptions. We never mentioned he was a physician). Also, when I was covering my eyes with my arm during labor, the nurse was upset that I was so quite and said to me "you're internalizing the pain...get that arm off of your face". She then proceeded to wrestle my arm from covering my face! I believe her name was "Deloris"...not sure because she never introduced herself. After delivery, another nurse insisted on "checking" my stitches. When I told her I did not have any stitches, she did not believe me. I finally told her to check for herself. When she confirmed that there were no stitches she said "well I never heard of that". The nurses here were unfriendly and unprofessional and put a damper on my birthing experience. I've since had another child (in the Chicago area), and my experience at that hospital was wonderful. Unless they completely overhauled the nursing staff in the maternity ward, I would never recommend this hospital in a million years!
Hello,
This is my first time responding to Mamasource. My two best friends and I all had babies within the past 4 months. We love Dr. Renee Sinopoli (East Side) and Dr. Claudia Koch (Bayview). They are partners. Sinopli is our family practitioner as well.
I don't know about certification, but I delivered at Columbia St. Mary's on Lake Drive and they have a tub available if you want to use it. Also, my friend just had a home birth and used a tub. I think she rented it from Well Rounded Maternity in Germantown. That might be a good resource for you regardless. Her midwife's name is Jan.
Hope that helps. And congratulations!!
