My son is currently in daycare, which only takes children until they are 2 1/2 to 3 years old. He will be 3yrs old in Sept 2009, so we will need to find another school for him beginning Sept. 09. We live downtown Jersey City. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

So What Happened?

Thanx for the advice. We are an Abbott District, and i was told by the Board of Ed. that i would need to wait until March, to try to get enrolled.

You should attend the Preschool workshop offered by JC Parenting. It will give you the lowdown on all of the options both public and private.

This workshop will explore your options for preschool in Downtown Jersey City. Are you considering staying in Jersey City and wonder what is out there for 3 and 4 year olds. I happen to go to an open house today at the Visquenti Preschool (2-5), and I think it's a really great place to consider. They just opened and have only four kids but with the demand in Jersey City I am pretty sure spots wont last so get in touch with them. Their # is ###-###-####

I think Jersey City is an Abbot preschool district which means there is free preschool through the public schools. Check with your local school as to the hours and ages. I belive in my school district there is free preschool for 3 year olds but it is only half a day. I know the JC public schools have an afterschool program but I don't know how it effects preschoolers who only are in school a half a day.
