Look up Jim Gill (jimgill.com) he is based out of Illinois...we have about 4 of his CDs and they are so fun! My son is 2 and knows all the words. If you go on the website you can listen to sound clips from his CDs. Enjoy@\
I'm looking for recommendations for good children's music CDs. We liked the kind of songs that came with the book "Puff the Magic Dragon" and the Jack Johnson / Curious George soundtrack, so I'm looking for more of that type of music (mellow and a little "folky" that grown-ups can enjoy, too).
Any suggestions?

Laurie Berkner is wonderful and very folky. I enjoy her as much as my kids do!

I grew up with Brite Music and bought it for my kids. I love it so much I became a representative last year. There is music for kids of all ages- for fun or to learn and is NOT obnoxious. The website will be revamped and way better by Nov.1,but you can still check out the website to see what there is and listen to sound clips. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
We bought 2 CDs called "For the Kids" and "For the Kids Too". I love them they are great. They are kids songs that are preformed by pop artists. Check it out on Amazon.com I just saw that there was a third album.

Not very folksy - but still fun to listen to, especially if you listened to them yourself 10 years ago: They Might Be Giants has a great kids cd which is fun to dance to and fun to sing to and still adult enough to keep you engaged!
They Might Be Giants and Laurie Berkner are huge hits at our house. Have fun!
My kids love Laurie Berkner...I believe she has 4 CD's out now. Some traditional songs and some she wrote herself.
We love Raffi, it is more sing along type music but I catch myself enjoying it!
Hi,
I love the For the Kids cd's too (I think a third one was just released!)
I have a four year old and a one year old. My daughter loves to listen to musicals. There are some appropriate ones for little kids that are not Disney (although they are fine too). We love The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, A Year with Frog and Toad, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Peter Pan (Mary Martin version, not Disney), Annie, Wizard of Oz, Oliver, Newsies, Honk, Seussical the Musical--there a lots of great soundtracks that you can find.
Another fun kids artist is Dan Zane. Ella Jenkins has great kids cd's too. If you used to watch Mr. Rogers, she used to appear on the show occasionally.
Have fun! It think that the world of children's music is getting better and better all of the time.
