I was wondering what you would recommend for childrens cd's or music I can download off the internet. I have 3 boys ages 1-5 and 1 girl age 6. I listened to alot of kids music as a child. I'd like my kids to do the same. Just plain old fun, and also some moral teaching songs. Any ideas are welcome.
My kids enjoy the Imagination Movers - Juice Box Hero's. We just got it for Christmas and it's all they listen too. I actually enjoy it too. They love to dance and it's great for them running around or for listening in the car. My kids are ages 1, 2 and 4.
Another vote for Laurie Berkner. Great for both boys and girls. Easy for parents to get into and participate without feeling like you're going to go crazy. She's great! My daughter loves it!
I'll second the Laurie Berkner CD's - really fun, cute music. I can't help but find myself singing along and tapping my toes!

I know this isn't children's music, per se, but my girls' absolute favorite CD is the Beach Boys - greatest hits. It's a total crack up to listen to a 3 year old girl in a twirly pink dress, belting out a song about racing muscle cars!
The other CD's that I would recommend are the ones I bought at Pottery Barn Kids a couple of years ago. They are called Play Time and First Steps. Great kids music that parents can listen to, sung by some jazz greats. Total sing along music!
I'm a teacher and mother and love Raffi. At Lakeshore, its a learning store, they have a great selection of music. My kids also love the Leapfrog DVD's. They are very educational-letters and sounds, making words and numbers. They are sold in a pack at Costco and are a great buy. That really helped my son with his letter sounds because it went along with music and it wasn't boring.
Another Laurie Berkner fan. Also, the Signing Time CDs have great songs about friendship, sharing...and educational ones re: letters, counting, colors. Look them up on YouTube to see some of the music videos.
I have to say, our daughter's favorite soundtrack is Jersey Boys (oldies like 'Sherry Baby' and 'Big Girls Don't Cry')--makes for a nice break from the kid music that the parents can enjoy as well ;)
Andy Z is a local musician who does lots of local concerts for tots--uses puppets, plays the guitar, etc. Kids love him. You can download songs from his website, buy his CDs at his shows & check out his schedule. Lots of times Moms' groups sponsor him at local events, malls too so they're free & the kids dance, sing--lots of fun! www.andyz.com
My kids love MaryLee Sunrisi (sp?), especially the younger ones. She has a lot that have "motions." My older kids love Justin Roberts (and a lot of parents too!) His songs are hilarious and quite catchy. We went to his concert and I think the parents were just as into it as the kids. Check out his song called "Meltdown" -- too funny!-- Of course, Laurie Berkner is awesome too!
The soundtrack to the movie "the sound of music."
Look for the Laurie Berkner cd's. Her music is fun for the kids and won't drive the adults crazy either. I know they have her music at wal-mart in the toy section.
As a former teacher and a mom who listens to a ton of music with my boys, I, too LOVE Berkner. Also, Dan Zanes is fun (something adults can listen to easily) and Greg and Steve are a big hit with the kiddos (they also have affordable concerts to attend). Little People songs are great, too (they have the classic songs we all know). Finally, Charlotte Diamond is excellent and her music can easily involve hand-motions and great dancing! Happy listening!

We like They Might Be Giants. They are a bit easier on the ears than traditional kids cds and they incorporate social and congnitive concepts into their songs. We especially like "Here Come TO The 123s"
