Hi A., they want name brand teen clothes. My old college roommate and I went to take some of her stuff. They hardly gave her anything and only wanted name brand.
Has anyone used Plato's Closet? I finally cleared everything out-and I mean everything-and I've got a lot of stuff. I don't want to just donate it because there are some really nice things in there that were pretty pricey. Has anyone done business with Plato's Closet that would be willing to share thoughts? Specifically do they only buy teen items, or do they buy business/professional items as well? Do they pay well?
Thanks.

I just used Plato's Closet for the first time last week; I took 2 pairs of Levi Jeans and I got $9.50 for them together. They only take clothes that are in style for the younger crowd. I'm in my 40's but the jeans I had are also in style for the younger crowd too. I was happy with the process.
I've shopped at Plato's Closet, and it's pretty much all teen and young adult stuff. I've never seen business attire there. And everything has to be in very good, like new condition for them to even take it.
I took some clothes there, and they didn't take any of it, because it was too "old" (I'm 31). They do target teens--so if you want money for your clothes, I would either do ebay, or find a good consignment store.
There is a womens consignment shop on 407 in Lewisville/HV area...right next to the Wal Mart market center...the smaller Wal Mart. I think between Garden Ridge and HV Road. They take womens cloting and paid good for what I brought them. You have to schedule an appointment to bring items in. Good Luck?
I have only bought clothes at Plato's closet but know many that have sold there and they have no issues. It is mostly teen clothing. A really great resale shop for your business or non-teen clothes is Encore Encore located at 407 & Garden Ridge by the Neighborhood Wal-Mart. I have bought & sold clothes there and the owner is very nice. I have received more money for my clothes there than I would selling them myself.
My daughter worked at Plato's closet for 3 years while in high school. They take only trendy teen styles and you will get pennies on the dollar. There is a great Women's resale consignment store in Lewisville off of 407 called "Encore, Encore" That takes women's clothes both junior and misses sizes and will take anything from casual to professional clothing. The owner works there full time and has a good eye for what will sell and gives you a better price than Plato's closet for the items...but most people I know that sell their clothes regularly say that you can earn more with a good 'ol fashion garage sale.
My daughter(24)and her friends use them a lot and love them. They both buy and sell clothing there.
