Hi Moms-i would like to hear some feedback about different types of permanent birth control. I'm considering the tubal ligation but wanted to see what other options are out there. i am meeting with my dr next month, but thought i would reach out to the MOMS and find out what has been used and your experiences; good or bad. I am ready to get off the pill so I can get my hormones balanced. So, I am looking to do this fairly soon. Thank you for the feedback! Is there anything else besides tubal ligation or hysterecomy?
Please send recovery time, etc. Thank you, J.

What can I do next?

there is a new in-office procedure called essure - it is basically a way to block the fallopian tubes and create permanent sterilization. It is not a painful procedure (what it says about it) and it is fast and non-surgical.

Vasectomy here; hubby was back to work next day. Cost around $650 with no insurance coverage.

tubals are cool! i've have zero problems and recovery was fairly easy. yes vasectomies are easier on guys, but if it's your body and you know that YOU are done, why not do it?

I have a tubal and got it done when I was having my 2nd c/s .
I'm having issues but not sure if it's from the tubal , the c/s or the fibroids that have popped up . I personally would have had my husband do it if they werent going to do a c/s.
Recovery and issues are far less for a man to do it. HTH

Have the hubby get fixed, that is what I did :) I figured I had to carry and push two kids out (all natural with both)...so it was his turn.

I would be careful with the tubal. My mother and sister both had heavy bleeding during there periods after getting it done. My doctor told me that some people will have lots of problems afterwards. Have you talked to your husband about him getting fixed instead of you. After hearing all the problems that could arise my husband has decided to get it done.
