At that age, that is pretty standard. Keep her comfortable, do not over dress her. Use the nose suction bulb to suck out the mucous if it gets to be a problem. Do not over do it though, as it can become irritating. Keep an eye on the fever, if the tylenol doesn't cut it, call the pediatrician back. Hang in there.

make sure she gets water, or juice.....preferably clear .......so she doesn't dehydrate too...........and the doctor is right, she will just have to get over it on her own.....

Good Luck and take care.

The first time your sweet baby gets sick is so awful!! I have had the greatest success using saline drops with the suction bulb to clear out little noses... just drip in a couple drops of saline & let it sit for a few seconds to loosen things up before you try sucking anything out. Don't know if you are breastfeeding or not, but I also would put a little Vicks Vaporub (the baby version - not quite so strong) on the side of my breast, close to baby's nose, to help clear him out so he could eat.

Nurse as much as possible, THE BEST medicine, it's made for your child and changes/adapts when they're sick.

I always preferred ibuprofen (advil) for fevers. Check with your doc.

Hi Sammy's Mommee! Congratulations on your baby. I would mostly agree with your doctor that you just let colds run their course. However, I would not give my baby tylenol. Tylenol is horrible for your liver. Here is a quote from wiki:
Acetaminophen causes three times as many cases of liver failure as all other drugs combined,[14] and is the most common cause of acute liver failure in the United States[15][16] , accounting for 39% of cases.

So, we don't use it in our house except on very rare occasions. If a child has a high fever and cannot sleep at night, then we will give one dose. We almost never get to that place though. Remember that a fever is a very good thing. It is your body's way of killing off the virus. We don't treat a fever at all, unless it is getting too high. Instead, we use homeopathy or essential oils. I would probably use homeopathic pullsatilla (hylands brand, 30x) 2 tablets each dose (they dissolve immediately, so there are no choking hazards). You cannot overdose on homeopathy, and they are extremely safe. And, if she is stuffy, I would mix 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil with about a Tbsp of almond oil (or another light oil) and rub it on her chest and back. She'll enjoy that, it smells good, and it helps tremendously with colds, stuffiness, and croup. But, space the oil at least 20 minutes from the homeopathy. Blessings! Feel free to send me a private message if you have more specific questions.

If she just has a fever and no other symptoms than it could be Roseola. It seems to be going around right now. It is very common and it is 3 days of fever than they break out in a rash then they are fine. You didn't mention the age, but it could also be teething. If she seems really fussy than you may want to have her ears checked for an infection. I agree with the other posts about not medicating a low grade fever- let the fever do its job and fight the virus.

Fevers are actually a good thing as your body works to fight off infections, so I don't give tylenol or ibuprofen until the fever is over 101 and/or my child doesn't seem to be feeling well (a lot of times they're still playing when their fever is under 101 or even higher). At this point, just keep your baby comfortable and see if her fever goes down within a couple of days. If she is still running a fever on the 3rd day, then I would take her to the doctor because it might be a bacterial infection rather than a viral one.

at my house we call that the random fever virus- it comes and then goes. Just love on her like you do best (as her mommy) and keep giving her tylenol to help her be as comfy as possible.
