N.,
I was a Behavioral Therapist, working with children with Autism, and sat in your shoes about 2 years ago. With the at home business I decided on (after much research, including the Wall Street Journal), I was able to replace my full time, professional income within 6 weeks of starting my business, which allowed me to stay at home with my 3 children. I have been at home with them for 2 1/2 years now, and I LOVE IT! I am able to schedule work around their naps, etc, right out of my own home. I make an executive income that surpasses my husband's corporate job. The best part is, during this time of economical uncertainty, my company is in the stronest position that it has ever been financially, in its 45 years! If you are interested in more info, don't hesitate to contact me. I'd be glad to share more. Good luck!

go www.care.com

A place for you to post for tutoring opportunities. Since you are a teacher, I would suggest you consider this avenue.

you can list yourself as a tutor or child care giver.

Hi N.,
I like the tutor idea as well. I have afriend that is a parent coach, and she doesdo some special needs families.
I think her website is KimKares.com SHe might could give you some good info and some ideas about starting in that field. That way you ahve control over you r own schedule when you make appointments with the families.
Another idea is maybe to start a bobysitting service for families with special needs.
Not you babysitting but you interview sitters, do back ground checks etc and the familes call you for sitters and you call the sitter and send them to the job. the family pay the sitter but you get a fee per hour for placing them.
Got Mothers Best Fried Website and look around. It is a larger scale agency than I am recommending. But it will give you an idea. Maybe they might even havea job opening you could do from home. I believe th eowners name is KIM.
I use them all the time and love their service.
I also have a few friends that have done ggreat by starting an e-bay business.
Think about what you enjoy doing, that is where your passion will be and then you will be able to make the income you need.
Good Luck!
K.

You're a special Ed teacher? How about in-home tutoring? I have a girlfriend that does it out of her own home a few days a week. She loves it. You could work your own hours, as many or as little as you like. Since you're a certified teacher, you should be able to contact the schools in your area and let them know you're available and they'll probably love to give out your name, especially to special needs kids.

What about watching 1 or 2 other children out of your house? Another option is getting a job at a daycare and usually they will not charge you for your childcare and make some money on the side. Good luck and enjoy your little one while he/she is little.
