Ok I am pregnant with my second child and this time we don't want to find out what we are having...so I need to be set on a boy and girl name to be prepared either way. We have a boys name ~ Owen Robert! But when it comes to girls we are lost. We never had a girls name the first time around cause we just new it was a boy and now we feel the same but since we are not finding out I need to have a girls name just in case. So I need any suggestions. My husband likes Sydney Jane but we both aren't set on it. We want Jane for sure as the middle name for family reasons but that is all we can come up with. Thanks in advance.
So we have decided for sure not to find out what we are having with our second child. The date has already been set for the big ultrasound in Feb and we had told the Dr to keep the gender a surprise. So as for names we are both set on OWEN ROBERT for the boy and SYDNEY JANE for the girl. Now we will just have to patient until July when our little one arrives. Thanks sooo much for the outpouring suggestions. I loved reading them and pondering on the perfect name. A lot of your suggestions are already family name: Addison, Mary, Savannah, McKinley, Sara, and I know I am missing more. Thank you again and I will keep you posted if the name changes or we change our mind about finding out.

We're having the same problem right now: I've picked out a boy's name but it's been a lot harder finding a girl's name that I know is just it. So far the only ones we've considered have been Maysie, Sophie, and Lana, which would all go good w/ Jane. I also think Lily and Gracie are cute. Good luck!

Get a baby names book and say all the names with Jane as the middle name and see which one you like the best.

Your lucky because Jane goes with so many names, using just my girls you have:
Olivia Jane
Isabella Jane
All of my children's names begin with vowels (coincidence)
and I love the name Owen (just look at his initials though (ORG) one letter short of something else ;)
other suggestions are to get a book and look at the meaning of the names also:
Olivia means bringer of peace and Isabella means She is beautiful.
I can go on and on about names, but you have to go with what you like and what works for your family. Sometimes you just don't know until you see your little angels face!

Hi M.!
Your post is something I can really relate to! My family uses Jane for the middle name of all the girls. My mother is Carol Jane, I'm N. Jane, my sister is Wendy Jane, I had two daughters: Rachel Jane and Elizabeth (we call her Libby) Jane and my sister named her daughter Casey Jane!! Like you, I knew the middle name had to be Jane so before I settled on Rachel, some of the other names I considered were Hannah Jane, Emily Jane, Sarah Jane and Rebecca Jane. Hope this helps. Congratulations and Good Luck!

I like family names, go through your family tree for inspiration. If the Jane comes from your side of the family, look at the names on your husband's side and then there is a history.

How about Chloe Jane or C.J. for short, or Vanessa Jane. My mom always calls my daughters, Sally Jane, even though that's not their names. Don't know if you like that or not but it's cute. Amanda Jane, Macey Jane. that's all i can think of right now. Good luck.

Hi M.
Jane is my middle name too! My birth certificate says Betty Jane but when I was born the B. Wetsy doll was
poplar so I was my Momma's B. Wetsy doll.
I have a good friend whose middle name is Jane and her first name is Melissa.
Alyssa Jane has a ring to it.
Just a couple of suggestions

My hubby and I went through all the name books we could find, then went to the internet to finally find the right name for our second son (Kyler). There's a fantastic site called www.babynames.com. You can punch in how many syllables, or what it starts or ends with to do a search, or just search through the thousands of names on there. Both our boys have 2,1,3 syllables in their first, middle and last names respectively. I think it has a nice ring to it (instead of being 2,2,2 or whatever). Good luck!

I think the first name to Jane needs to have 3 syllables to flow. Some of the sets of initials flow easier, also:
Amanda (AJ), Bethany (BJ), Eliza, Helena, Ilena, Jennifer (JJ), Karina, Katrina, Marina, Petria (PJ), Theresa.
Congratulations!

The first thing I thought of was 'Little 'Liza Jane' (an old song). I guess it would actually be 'Eliza'. I read your responses and Alyssa and Sara (or Sarah) both struck a chord with me. 'Emma Jane' is cute, but I'm from West Virginia, and that's the 'hick' way of pronouncing 'Emogene'! LOL I had a friend named 'Emma Jean' and my mom was 'Eva Jean'. I like both of those, but then you aren't looking for 'Jean', are you! I got sidetracked! Ha Ha
P.S. Had forgotten til I read your newer responses that we once knew a beautiful little girl named Clara Jane, but she got hit by a car and killed at about age 10.

Jane is a very strong name: The girl's name Jane \j(a)-ne\ is pronounced jayn. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "the Lord is gracious"
I am really picky about the meanings of names. I love this name for a very strong fist name:
The girl's name Alexandra \a-lexa-ndra, alex(an)-dra\ is pronounced al-eks-AHN-dra. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "man's defender".
Man's defender and the Lord is gracious - a great mix of strength and grace!
Jane is a family name for us too so like you I knew my first daughter would have the middle name Jane. We tried lots of different names with it and most fit well. My husband and I had very different naming styles though so it got a little rough at times. :) We narrowed it down to Kyleigh Jane (pronounced KY-Lee) or Samantha Jane. Kyleigh Jane ended up winning out. She is 8 now and I could not imagine her with any other name. Good luck! I love names!

Anna Jane, Hannah Jane, Eliza Jane, Margery Jane, there are hundreds of possibilities. Get one of those baby name books and just read through it saying "Jane" after every one. Keep a list of any that you like. I'd go with something that has more than one syllable.
