I have done mystery shopping in the past. I was told by a mystery shopping company not to pay anything to a mystery shopping company to get into the field. ( This was the company that I currently doing mystery shopping for).

When I first started it, I did join a company and pay $10 a month, I never got any shops, so I never worked. I would recommend that you not pay money for a company to send you leads for shops. To me, it seems like it is rip-off and they are taking your money to do something that they should be giving you leads anyway.

I work with DSG and they no fees to get started. You sign some contracts saying you are an independent contractor. Sometimes they send me emails asking if I want to do a shop, however most of the time I call and find out what is available and set up my own times when I want to work.

It is something that you won't make a huge amount of money. I made a little, the more you work, the more you will make. Most shops you get paid are $7-10. They do have some insurance shops that you can call over the phone and get a quote and that doesn't cost as much, since it is the phone call you are paying for. There is a lot of paperwork and you don't get paid till they receive the paperwork and go over it. It is usually a month or so till I get paid. If you want DSG information, I can give it to you. Good Luck

I was a secret shopper for Randall's (Tom Thumb) and it was ok. There was a 3 day training/drug testing and follow conference calls before they allow you to shop. If you are organized and don't mind driving, it can be good for you. I did it for a summer but when I went back to my full time job, I had no more time for it. The down side is you are required to purchase items but you will get reimbursed for buying sandwiches and starbucks but nothing else.

I signed up for this a few years ago but many times, the payment wasn't worth it for me to take the time to do the jobs. Good luck making a few extra dollars!

I currently mystery shop and it is ok for earning some extra $, but you often don't get paid until 30 to 45 days from when you do the shop and you do not always get chosen when you submit an application. It is not quick 4 to earn, and you have to also have a Paypal acct.. There are different agencies you can register with and you get different kind of shops -a lot of the time you kind of have to work your way up. Try Kern Scheduling and just do some research on the computer. Some of the shops are VERY specific and you have to enter everything on the computer and then if you rate ok, then you get pd. But it is an extra way to make some money -some of the shops I do are from $5 to $20, depending on the shop and yo can see what works for you before you apply. I also got a certification and not sure if that helps much - a lot of the agencies look at your overall rating that you get each time you do a shop. Good luck with thtis and like i said just be sure you do your research.
