Hi. I am requesting ideas for Mother Day gifts that my students can put together. The kids are 8 and 9 years old and in the 3rd grade. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks C.

Get votive candles, ribbons, decorative craft pins. Have the kids decorate the candles. Also, little clay pots and plant a seed in them. They can decorate the pots. Magnets made from frozen juice can tops....again, decorate and affix magnet to the back.

You don't say how old your students are. But, a big hit in our house always includes a photo. My son's preschool seems to do a photo w/ a prop. One yr each kid was holding a bouquet. and then the kids paint popsicle sticks and make a frame w/ a loop of ribbon. Also mommy and me matching tiedye. But, you'd need a bit more lead time to have the mom's bring in shirts.

It’s difficult to answer you without knowing the age of the kids involved or what type of projects you are interested in. Moms tend to like anything with pictures on them. Plates and mugs, cards, shopping bags, ect. There is a web site called tipnut.com that has a lot of free patterns and projects on it. Including one’s that use recycled items. Shoot me an email back about age of your students and type of materials you are interested in and I may be able to give you better ideas.
