I've looked all over the internet but cant find a answer. Maybe someone her could help me.

I've had mirena for a year now and last month I got sick with flu like symptoms Nausea, headache, aches, skin hurt, and diarrhea. it lasted 4-5 days. I didn't think much about it till the same time this month I got sick again. This time it lasted 5 days. Felt like I had to throw up the whole time and had diarrhea. I was better and now two days later I'm starting to feel sick again. I'd like to add that when I was pregnant with my other kids I got nausea but nothing like this. I'm pretty sure that the other sypmtoms aren't signs. Has anyone been on mirena and had something like this happen? I'm just not sure if it's just bad luck getting sick two months in a row or if something is wrong. What do you think? could these just be bad side effects?

What can I do next?

I was on Mirena for a little over a year and couldnt wait to have it taken out. I think everyone is diffrent, but some people have serious side effects, and you gotta decide whats best for you. For me, I had terrible cramps from day one cause by the mirena, and I kept calling the doctors and complaining and they kept telling me that that wasnt what was causing it. Finally i got fed up and demanded that they check to make sure everything was ok with it, they did a ultrasound to make sure it was placed properly(it was), but i was still in pain and feeling sick, so i had my doctor take it out. Then for months after i didnt get my period, they did all kinds of tests and found out that mirena caused a hormonal imbalance and i had to take a RX to get my body back online. So, please be careful with the mirena, for some people, I think that it might be one of those things that sounds too good to be true.

My sister just went through this and the Dr. did an US and blood screening--all tests were + for the FLU. There are different strains and they don't discriminate between those who have already had one form and those who haven't.

I went through this and just recently got my iud removed after having it for two years. A few months ago I started getting the flu like systoms with no fever/chills. It would cause my stomach to feel like I was having contractions. I would get sick almost every two weeks and my stomach would stay nausea in between. After being sick twice I went to my dr who thought it might be my gallbladdar, but it wasn't. But since I have had my iud removed I have felt so much better and have not gotting sick like that again. I really don't know if it was the iud but that fact that I have been feeling better each day tells me it might have something to do with it. I also have so much more energy since having it removed. Next time I am going to get the paragard just to be on the safe side.

I've had several friends who had the mirena and I had one myself as well. I never had flu symptoms, but my friends did. I didn't care for the mirena because I had unpredictable periods. I haven't heard of anyone having problems with the paraguard so that's what I'm going to do next time too.

I've had my Mirena for 7+ years with no side effects and no periods.
