no offense, but please don't suggest a meetup.com type organization!!! i've joined several meetups, but they're not really meeting my needs b/cs i think i'm looking for something a little more casual. we moved here 8 months ago and i'm still so lonely i could cry sometimes. my dh travels on a weekly basis, and it's just me and my two boys trying to figure out a way to pass the days interestingly! we get cabin fever but then when we go out it feels like there's only so much we can do b/cs we don't have any friends and don't want to spend money. i'm just looking for a group of moms who have playgroup every week or every other week perhaps... a way to get out of the house (and host, too) and have something to look forward to doing, w/out a lot of fuss and over-organization. are there any groups already established or anyone looking for something similar? please let me know!
Does your neighborhood have a website? Check that out for mom's groups.
Walk in your neighborhood and meet people.
Go to the library for story time.
Walk in the malls and go to the paly area. Play area at McDonalds or other fast food place.
When your children are playing with others, figure out who the mom is and start chatting. Talk to other moms at the park, library, etc.

First United Methodist Church (downtown Irving) has a regular preschool playdate in their playground area. I don't know when the next one is, but I'm sure it's on their website. They also have a Mothers Day Out program that I've heard good things about.
I'm a new stay-at-home mom to a 2.5 year old boy. We are going through the same thing- we've gone to the park by ourselves and I have ever intention of making it to the libraries for story time- but would like a mom to get together with and just hang out and let the kids play. How old are your boys? My son and I would be interested in meeting up with you, we live in irving.
