Looking for Family Beach Vacation in Continental US

Like Sheri, we have also spent quite a bit of time in south Florida. We go 1-2 times per year to Sanibel Island, which is also near Ft. Myers (about a 45 minute drive from the airport). It's my paradise! Beautiful beaches with lots of great shells, great restaurants, shopping, a bike path that surrounds the island, etc. It's very tropical & serene...there are no chain restaurants, no stoplights, no buildings taller than 3 stories. You can also go to Captiva, another nearby island (about a 20 minute drive) that is even more secluded and also very beautiful. I'm sure your boys would find lots of things to do on Sanibel & as someone who's been there twice while pregnant, I can tell you it's very relaxing! Wherever you end up, hope you enjoy your trip & congrats on the new baby!

Check out Kiawah Island in South Carolina. They just built a new resort that is supposed to be gorgeous.

Chrissy, I do not have a hotel name but I can tell you where a beautiful beach is and I know they have hotels on it. We used to go every year when the kids were little. Naples florida has a wonderful beach with hotels. but if you want even further out go to sanibel island or captiva island. absolutely wonderful. my kids loved it. we always rented a house in fort meyers beach and then drove to naples since we had family there. but the beach in fort meyers beach was wonderful also.

Marco Island, Florida. My husband & I went there last August and wished we brought the kids. The hotel, I think Mariott, was gorgeous and on the beach. Palm Springs is a short drive too. Key West is also great, there is an island called Dry Tortugas that you can take a ferry to.
