Hi, my husband and I are expecting our first child at the end of October and would like to find a good pediatrician who is also close to our home. We live on the east side of Wauwatosa. I guess what I would like to know is if you have or know of a good doctor in our area and also why you feel they're great (e.g. great bedside manner, never have to wait in the office, doesn't mind after hours phone calls, or something like that). I would describe myself as a combination of upfront and uptight and my ideal pediatrician would be direct and level with me, but also patient. Once again, this is our first child, and any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What can I do next?

Hi,
We use the same doctors office as the previous person that responded but we see Dr. Esser. He is great as well. Now that he has a son of his own too, I feel that he is even more on level with the care for the kids. I have visited with Dr. West a few times as well and I like her a lot too. The office is just moving today. I know that because my 2 year old just split his lip open after a fall today and I had to call and see what to do. There was a lot of blood. They were not in the office, but the answering service gave the message and within 10 min. I had a call back. Good luck to you.

We take our son to Dr. Omari (Children's Medical Group - Pediatric Consultants of WI) on Bluemound Rd and Hwy 100. He is absolutely spectacular and I have NEVER had a problem getting in to him when I needed to. And what's better, he is usually 5-10 minutes EARLY on appts!!!!! I have never had to wait more than a few minutes in the waiting room! Good luck!!!

Hi A.,
My husband and I live on the East side of Tosa as well. Our son will turn 2 in October and I am pregnant with our second (due in April). We have had great success with Dr. Pamela West. She's located in the Mayfair Mall Plaza but their office will be moving soon. She's a mother of 2 herself, is very personable yet also very confident and knowledgeable. We trust her completely. I, too was very apprehensive about choosing the "right" pediatrician for our son; but feel we absolutely made the right choice. Her phone number is: ###-###-####.
Let me know if you have additional questions - I'll be happy to help.
Good Luck!

Wow! I am glad to see I'm not the only one so enthusiastic about Mayfair Pediatrics. My 2 1/2 yr old son also sees Dr West, and even though we moved to the Northshore area my daughter due at the end of October will too. Well worth the drive. As for EM care, my son did need to see Dr Esser when he was ill (Dr West does not work on Fridays)and he was wonderful- didn't make us feel we were imposing on his schedule at all. Also, I did need to contact the on-call Dr. on a Sunday evening and was again amazed at the prompt response and supportive doctors-again I did not feel as if I was interuption to weekend plans. I definietly recommend Dr West or any of the great docotrs at Mayfair pediatrics.
