Jacksonville, Fl

If you're going to Jacksonville, you might as well go ahead and go to Ponte Vedra or St. Augustine Beach. Jacksonville Beach is okay, but St. Augustine Beach is just more "vacationy" -lots of great seafood places, GORGEOUS wide beach that's great for all beach activities including bike riding and a beautiful old town with tons of history, a Spanish fort and a Spanish "castle"-Castillo San Marcos. Ponte Vedra is between the two and quite lovely as well.

I spent a week in jacksonville florida last september. I hated it. the people were ok but the entire town was dirty and icky. not much to do. maybe it was where we were (conference center on the river front) but it was a pretty scary area.

Jacksonville is gross. There is very little to do, and it's unattractive. If you're set on going to FL and want to stick to the Atlantic Coast, venture to Amelia Island, or further south (but NOT Daytona).

My parents go to Amelia Island every year and love it. I haven't been myself in years, but remember liking it--nice beaches, if I remember there's a section with a boardwalk, too. Have fun!

If you're going to Jacksonville, head over to Amelia Island. Very small, quaint island with some neat history behind it - Pirates and whatnot if I remember correctly. There is a boardwalk, some nice places to walk around, and quiet areas of the beach.
