Hi E.,

I've BTDT. You WILL most likely be very emotional on the meds, with your hormones buzzing like bees. Infertility is a very emotional issue anyhow, so just try to keep your mind occupied and don't obsess. Believe me I know that is much harder to do than say. (((hugs)))

I have a beautiful 11-year-old boy conceived through GIFT (a form of IVF) when I was 35 and a lovely 9-year-old daughter through adoption. We tried for quite a long time, several years, went through IVF twice, then switched to a different RE before conceiving our son. I also had stepchildren and we thought our family was complete until the opportunity to adopt our daughter (she was three) came up rather out of the blue. Both of our kids are such blessings, very healthy, bright and active. They are close in age and size, and people have actually asked us if they were twins. (c:

I hope this helps. IVF does work, and I believe the success rates are much higher than back when we were TTC,
but parenthood through adoption is a wonderful option too.

Best of luck to you!

C.

We tried 8 years. Lots of IUI, clomid, lupron. First IVF cycle we had twins born 38 weeks, good healthy babies who start 1st grade next year. 3 years later we had a suprise baby.

I'm late for a meeting right now or I could write you 3 pages of the emotional upheavel we endured. The night after the IVF I took my shot a day early. Called Dr. Grainger in tears knowing we had done all this for nothing and I had just ruined it. I felt sorry for myself that I had to give msyelf a shot. The one my husband gave me was emotional as well. I was mad at God but couldn't be mad at God if I wanted to get pregnant. I finally went to a great counselor who helped me with it.

With these hormones in you youwill be emotional. You can't control it. But, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Stay strong! Know that you are not weak if you cry or feel sorry for yourself or are mad at God and everyone who is pregnant or ever was pregnant!

Feel free to contact me through this site if you want someone to voice your concerns to. It's a difficult process that can only be understood if you have gone through it.

What you are experiencing is completely normal . . . Not only b/c of the Lupron but the entire process of IVF.. . . Hang in there and think positive. I had a beautiful baby girl through IVF (and second Jennifer E) and Peter Ahlering with SHER Institute. It is so worth the whole emotional roller coaster. Send tons of baby dust your way (ps- after 10 years of unexplained infertility and two ivf's) i also got pg naturally 1.5 after my dd was born! Please keep us posted!

Been there, done that, Sweetie! I so understand, as does every other woman that has been through infertility & IVF. I spent almost 10 yrs trying to conceive. I had stage 4 endometriosis and it was just heartbreaking. Finally, at age 34, I was told I needed a hysterectomy immediately to relieve the pain I was dealing with. I told the infertility specialist I needed 1 chance at IVF. Thank the Lord, that's all it took and I have beautiful 4 yr old b/g twins. It's a long road and IVF is anything but fun. But, my children are living proof it can work and it can work the first time.
Feel free to PM me if you want to chat. I hope you feel better soon.

First R E L A X. Think good thoughts. You are on your way to having a baby. I know it will work for you. I hope you are using Peter Ahlering at the Sher Institute. He's the best in the midwest. Trying to conceive is very emotional in and of itself but know that IVF is precise and specific and just follow the steps with the daily shots and try to think positively, knowing this process is necessary to achieve the results. It's a numbers game. Lots of folicles to start with will give you the best results. I was very challeneged in that area but do have a miracle baby girl b/c of IVF. It may seem scary but the docs know what they are doing and just trust them. Peter Ahlering has a very high success rate with ivf. Good luck!
