How to Get Spiders off of My Plants and Rid Mosquitos in Back Yard??

I have small spiders on almost all of my plants. While I can appreciate the spiders for the fact that they keep other bugs off of my plants, I hate spiders!! I want to be able to prune my roses, or smell my lilies, etc without worrying if I'm going to touch a spider. (Yes, I am THAT scared of them). Plus, my plants aren't too attractive with webs all over them! I have sprayed some organic plant-safe bug killer, but the spiders are still there!

Also, in my front yard, there are NO mosquitos. We hang out there every day and never get bitten. My back yard is another story. I just went out for literally 2 minutes to water the plants and I got multiple bites. I don't want to put bug spray on for just a couple of minutes, but if nothing helps, I guess I'll have to. Our yard is fenced-in with a privacy fence. There isn't any standing water. Can I bomb the yard or something that'll last longer than a day? I won't even let my kids play outside right now b/c even with bug spray on, they still get bitten. What works?

What can I do next?

Maybe your neighbors have standing water? That is how they breed and they don't live very long, so there must be some water around.

Maybe the spiders are eating the mosquitoes, and that is why there are so many spiders--lots of food for them. If the mosquitoes go, the spiders may go to. In the meantime, are you able to spray your plants with a hose? If you do that frequently, I think the spiders will find somewhere else to make a web.

Mosquito Barrier works great! It's a concentrated garlic oil. You spray on lawn. We did it this year and NO mosquitos.

Try cedar mulch. If you lay it in your backyard it repels mosquitos (they can't stand the smell apparently) and perhaps it will ward off spiders. I had a similar problem and discovered this solution.

It sounds like your back yard has a little standing water somewhere. Get rid of the standing water and you remove your mosquito problem...unless it is a neighbor's standing water. Don't forget to check around sprinklers, sprinkler controller ground covers (water can puddle there), saucers on your plants and defunct fountains.

Spiders are hard to get rid of. Most of them do not respond to poisens unless they also eat their webs; like black widows. You could try spraying down with a jet water and hacking at the webs with sticks for a few weeks and see if that helps.
