soooo we use a griddle to make bacon and sausage in the morning....

we use the grill to make ribs, steak burgers etc.....

i use the oven to bake and make pizza....

the george forman is for porkchops and meat when it rains....

so what the hell is in my stovetop that made it burst into fire from the burner when my husband put a teapot on it? lol....
i laugh now because the fire is out....after we almost put water on the fire on the ELECTRIC stove.....caught myself with that one....

the stovetop is only used for tea, mac n cheese and pasta....i dont get it but apparently im going to sears to buy more burner pans since one of my four silver ones are black now....

and ps i swear if theres playdough....a paintbrush or legos in there when i look tomorrow morning im gonna flip lol....

What can I do next?

if the coil had grease on it from something else- transfer from the bottom of the kettle - it can catch fire...

If there is debris in the grease/burner pan - dust, food particles, etc. can heat up and burst into flames as well.....

if the coil has been submerged in water - it will blow a circuit- overheat and catch fire....did that by accident once - man that was a mess!!!

A piece of pasta would do that.

is it the type with the coil?
if so there could have been crumbs in or around the part where it plugs in.
or it could have a short in the burner.

Maybe it is mad at you for not using it more? ;) It wanted to see more action. It was bored.
I don't know! I'm just glad you are all safe and the fire is out sans the water! Whew! That is such a natural reaction, isn't it, to grab water!

You can get replacement burner pans at most supermarkets in the kitchen section. I covered mine with foil (easier to change out and replace if there were spills). Glad the house didn't burn down. Not a bad idea to have a ABC fire extinguisher in the kitchen :)
