Does anyone have any great tricks for easily or quickly cleaning baked on drips/food off of burners or drip pans? I've tried SOS type pads, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and Softscrub, among others. With major (hours) of rubbing, I can get about 1/2 of the gunk off. (Really, I don't understand how the burners keep getting so dirty. I really don't think I spill all that much.)
I have a black stovetop and have the same problems. For me, I have to be careful of not using sos pads and gritty products so it won't scratch.
I found BAM works GREAT! Some of the food you have to spray it on and let it soak, but it works great on not so long sitting spills. With the black stovetop, it shows EVERYTHING!
You can find it at Target and most grocery stores. And, it's not very expensive.
Good Luck

Hi,
I have found that Krud Kutter works wonders on just about anything that is hard to get off. You can find it at Home Depot. Hope this helps.

I was watching a cleaning show on BBC america and they used meat tenderizer. Sounds weird but they say that it breaks down gristle and fat in the meat and that's how it tenderizes and it does the same thing for the pots, pans etc.

I agree with one of the other moms. My mother has always and I mean always taken a garbage bag and a full bottle of amonia. She takes the all of the oven racks and drip pans and puts them in the garbage bag and then dumbs the entire amonia in there and then ties up the bag real tight in a knot and leaves it outside for a couple hours. Then goes back outsdie and dumbs out the amoinia in a place in the street or a safe place a pet or a child doesnt go and then scrubs the "greese" or food that is on there and it comes off easy. She even comes to my house and does mine lol. Good Luck

use a ziplock bag and 1/4 cup of amonia. Place burner in bag with amonina and leave over night. then wash. They will look like new. I have only tried this on enamel coated grates. Don't know if it works on others.

I use vinegar and baking soda. Be sure to wear gloves. I puddle the vinegar onto the burners and sprinkle the baking soda. It will begin to bubble. I mix it to be somewhat pasty, and let it sit for a little while. I then scrub it off.
I hope this is helpful.

I noticed someone mentioned the Shaklee scour off. I'm glad to hear someone who doesn't sell it mention that it works great! It really, truly does.
I do sell Shaklee, and you can only buy it from distributors, so I thought in case you are interested in trying that suggestion, I'd give you a link where you can buy it.

Hi M.,
The gunk is coming from the bottom of your pots & pans. You can use oven cleaner on the bottom of the pots & pans as well as the burners. If the drip pans to the burners are removable then take them off so the oven cleaner will not have contact with the flame (pilot fire) that is lit.

Let them soak in original formula Dawn. It worked great for my range hood screens and they were real gross.
Lestol is also a great product.

try letting them soak in hot water with good soap for about an hour...that way the gunk can loosen up...also depending on the material your drip pans are...you could use oven cleaner on them.
good luck!!!

My sister had the same problem with her burners, and was ready to buy a new stove. She purchased Shaklee's Scour Off, their green scrubber pad and after she paired that with the Shaklee's Basic H2 she was able to remove all the residue. Her husband said "When did we get a new stove?" after she was finished. The best thing about this product is it is all natural and safe for you, your home and environment, you can put it right up to your nose and smell it, who typically likes breathing in their oven cleaner? This product is also good for showers, sinks, tubs, grout, etc. I know many people that have been amazed by this product, and I know you will be too! If you'd like to purchase, please go to www.shaklee.net/bowerman and you can place an order there that will ship right to your home. Let me know if you have any questions. Good Luck! N.

Do you have a self cleaning oven? I put my burners in the oven and turn on the self cleaning and when they are done all you have to do is wipe them off with a damp cloth and they are like new. If you don't have a self cleaning oven then just turn your oven on as hot as it can go and put the burners in there for an hour and it will do the trick. Good luck!

I have sprayed oven cleaner on my burners, and let it sit overnight then used an SOS pad and that works pretty well. I hate that job too. It's the worst!

Are you talking about electric burners? Try TSP and rinse it off well. Also, be sure to wash off the bottom of your pans well. Use a screen over the top of fry pans, they are sold in the kitchen depts of hardware and Target type stores.

Oxyclean (the gritty powder) to clean. You should have very little scrubbing to do if you leave it on mixed with a little water long enough. Then follow up with fireplace glass cleaner. It leaves a protective coating so the next time you spill something it wipes right up. We have a white stove and I cook a ton and it's still white!

I used to use Dawn Power Desolver, too. But I can no longer find it. It works great on the burners, and also takes off that baked-on gunk on the pans.
If anyone knows where to find it, let me know.

Odor Free Easy Off Oven Cleaner! You let it soak and then wipe it all up. If you still have gunk left, try it again the next time you cook, it will all come off eventually!

Okay, I didn't have time to read all the other responses, so this may be a duplicate but I LOVE Mean Green Cleaner. You can buy it at the Dollar Store.
I soak my burners in the sink with hot water and about 1 cup of mean green... let them soak for about 15 minutes and then go at it with a no-scratch pad. Easy peasy. :)

I've had pretty good success with Bar Keeper's Friend, it's a scrub you add a little water to to make a paste. The one burner I use the most was horrible compared to the others and that was the only thing that was able to tackle it.

I use bartender friend or shaklee scour off. I don't sell Shaklee, so I thought I'd share from someone who won't profit from a sale. It DOES work. It smells great. I especially love scour off on my soap scum- works miracles! And it's safe for you to use, no harsh fumes...

I use oven cleaner. Spray it liberally over the greased surfaces, let it sit for about 10 minutes (longer if youve got alot of buildup), wash off with a wet cloth or if the parts are small and removable, rinse under a hot tap. Make sure to open window :-)

I despise scrubbing..and the only way I have found that get the gunk off that those horrible little evil elves put on there whiel I cook because I too swear I did not spill when I cooked is to take out my big 22 qt pot get the water boiling turn off the heat add dish soap and the burners and drip pans and let them soak it usually comes off within a few hours but I leave it over night and only have top rub with a sponge to clean off what is there.
Good luck and of someone give you another idea that wors better PLEASE pass it on..my email address is ____@____.com
