Hi Mamas!

I am looking for a home inspector that knows the Long Grove area and has experience with new construction. Any ideas? I searched around previous questions but cannot seem to find anything. I can find plenty of options online but would love a recommendation. Thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

I know two inspectors that I would recommend but you'd have to call them to see if they know the Long Grove area. Gary Monfeli, ###-###-####, www.HomeInspectionMan.com, ____@____.com and Paul Polarek, Canal Port Home Inspections, ###-###-####, ____@____.com. Nothing in it for me but tell them S. sent you. Good luck!

I used Geof Greer with Buyers Protection Group ###-###-#### (cell). He and I are in a networking group together many realtors and lawyers recommend him as well. He was in contruction for years before doing inspections, so he really knows his stuff.

Whatever you do, do not use High Point Inspections! TOTALLY missed a ton of problems that would have saved us tens of thousands of dollars in repairs/renovations/remedy measures.

Our realtor recommended him, and I have a feeling that it is not a good idea to go with the inspectors recommended by realtors, as they can tend to be just a rubber-stamp to help get the transaction done.

You can get recommendations from a realtor. I have had 5 successful experiences with realtor recommended inspectors. When the recommendation is made by your own realtor (s)he wants the best for you. If you're not happy you can cause him problems. In fact, I suggest that if the inspector missed obvious problems this would void the contract for the sale. One could even sue.

I work with a Realtor who has years of experience. If you'd like to call her, I'm sure she could recommend someone. Her name is Janice Weiner at ###-###-####.
