Why is it unsafe? I used to drink them and I liked it. I thought I was immune to caffeine, but it helped. I wouldnt have done it everyday, just when I was really dragging. Never made me jittery. Im pregnant thats why I dont drink them anymore.
I'm returning to work in 2 weeks and looking for ways to keep awake since my little one still gets up at night. I'm very tolerant to caffeine so I'm looking for a strong one that will actually keep me awake. I deal with patients so I really need a clear mind! I know this drink is probably unsafe and dangerous, so please, no need to lecture me about it. I'm only asking for reviews from moms who have tried the drink!
By the way
By the way, I'm not Nursing my child; he is formula fed.

The pomegranate flavor is not bad, the berry flavor is the WORST!
I am highly tolerant to caffeine and can drink the whole bottle with no problems.
Eat before you drink one though on an empty stomach it might give you problems.
I tried it a couple of months ago out of curiosity. I got kinda dizzy and nauseous but I think it was because I didnt have enough food in my stomach. My husband has used them about 3 times and he didnt have any bad results. You'd be safer just taking some B vitamins tho.
I won't lecture you *smile*
But you may wish to try a slightly different approach to your stimulant intake. Instead of drinking the entire cup of coffee or energy drink in one sitting in the morning, you may wish to space it out over the day.
Caffeine (which is what the 5 hour energy drink is anyway) acts like a 'dam' and holds back chemicals in your brain that tell you you're tired. When the caffeine wears off, all those chemicals flood the brain and you may have an even bigger crash than before. By taking smaller amounts of caffeine periodically throughout the day you get mini-periods of relief.
This is an article written by Dr. James Wyatt who is the director of the Rush Sleep Center (in Chicago). Skip about halfway down to where he is first quoted and you can read about spacing of the caffeine to get the best effects.

So whether it is the coffee, a coke, or a 5 hour energy drink...maybe give this technique a try because it seems to make a whole lot of sense!
Good luck and happy altertness!
I think you should be careful. When I tried it once, having to do OT at work my heart started to beat so fast it was scary. It felt as if it skipped a few beats once in a while. I am from Europe and so used to high caffeine coffees and am very tolerant to caffeine. I also am back at work, it's a little though with a new born, but I don't dare touching that stuff anymore.
I have had it 2-3 times when I needed to drive long distances. I too am very tolerant to caffeine and it worked really well. It did make me jittery though so as suggested by someone else, I would start with half a bottle. My hubby tried it when we were driving back from my parent's over Xmas and it made him naseous (but definitely worked).
Good luck
I've tried it, but it was before I was pregnant/had the baby. It's not bad. It really does what it says it will do. I do think that I still got a little jittery, but I drank it on an empty stomach which I don't recommend. I will say that if you are breast feeding I don't know that it would be a good idea to drink the drink, but I am assuming you are not. It could be dangerous for the baby if you are though. They don't process caffeine the same way we do. Rather, they can't process caffeine really at all.
Husband buys them in bulk at Sams and uses them at 2:30 whenever we travel or are running a lot. He says they are not like caffeine/energy pills were with the shakes.
no, but my kids do. they say it makes them jittery but does keep them awake. i hate them.

It did not work for me. I am not a coffee or soda drinker so I thought it would help but nope.
Red Bull seems to help me.
I too am caffeine tolerant.
I have had the same result from taking liquid b-complex vitamins, or taking the green tea capsules (that contain quite a bit of caffiene as well). You can find both of these in the vitamin/weight loss section of your typical walgreens or target type store.
The five-hour made me jittery (hate that feeling) and upset my stomach even when eating before.
I guess you could play around with it see if half a bottle worked, etc. But that is why I like the green tea capsules better. You know exactly how much is in each capsule, so it is easy to adjust your dose!
I'm pretty tolerant to caffeine, like you. Over the summer we drove from Columbus, OH to Orlando, FL to Houston, TX and back over a matter of weeks and the entire time I'd take the 5-hour energy drink. Although the taste left something to be desired (my opinion, anyway), they certainly worked. I'd drink a half bottle and if that didn't do the complete trick then I'd chug the rest. Grandma T is right, it can leave you a bit jittery and upset the stomach if you don't eat something. Hope that helps :)
I tried the Berry one. So, so, so awful. I couldn't even make myself drink half the bottle. I didn't notice anything, but I didn't choke that much of it down. Blech.
I have never tried it but I have heard of people having horrible side effects from drinking the whole bottle. Some people say to start off with 1/2 the bottle and you won't experience any side effects. But I guess its different for each person.
