A friend of mine is coming into town tonight and we're planning on taking some family pictures with her tomorrow morning... sorry for the late notice! Does anyone know of a couple really good places outside to take some pictures? Big empty field with the mountains in the back, something scenic would be preferred! Thanks!

What can I do next?

Gardner Village is a good place, or Thanksgiving Point.

Murray Park I know that's not sandy but it's close- it's a beautiful park, streams running through, a nice play ground, lots of walking paths. good luck :) Take the 5300 s I 15 exit, go north on state it'll be on your right, I think there were indian head sculptures at the entrance.
http://www.murray.utah.gov/ you can find pics of the park at that web address.

My husband and I had our engagement pics taken in Temple Quarry. It's pretty with the large rocks and trees!

In the past I've liked taking friends up to Silver Lake at the top of Big Cottonwood - good views, an easy hike for kids, good photo spots. The hitch is, with our late spring this year, it may still be under snow. Year before last we went hiking there Memorial Day weekend in short sleeves (and got great photos with friends). Last year at the same time the snow was so deep we couldn't hike at all.
Down at valley level, you might consider Antelope Island. It's not fields (desert instead), but you can shoot photos with the lake behind you, and the mountains behind the lake. On a clear day with little wind, the mountains are perfectly mirrored in the lake. This can provide a dramatic background for family photos.
