I've always wanted to go to Salt Lake City or Park City, Utah. I have the opportunity to go the end of September. Are either of these two cities more kid friendly than the other? What are some things to do with a 19 month old?

What can I do next?

My kids just came back from a visit to their Grandma and Grandpa's in SLC. They LOVED Wheeler Farm (tons of animals you can pet, play with, and ride) and the Ogden Dinosaur Park. Also apparently the public library in SLC is spectacular and very kid-friendly (it's okay to make noise and play, and they have a whole floor dedicated to kids!). Also they went to the farmer's market in downtown SLC, where there were a number of activities set up for small children, plus plenty to see and do for the adults. According to my parents, who moved there a few months ago, SLC is really set up well for families with children. It sounds like all the family activities are quite inexpensive because so many families there have lots of kids.

I grew up in a suburb of Salt Lake City, and go back once or twice a year to visit. The last couple years I've been taking my daughter, and there are tons of things to do with children and toddlers. Salt Lake and Park City are about a 30-45 minute drive from each other, so you can certainly visit both in one trip, but I think there are more kid-friendly things in Salt Lake.

In Salt Lake, there's the Hogle Zoo (https://www.hoglezoo.org/), the Tracey Aviary (http://www.tracyaviary.org/), Wheeler Farm (http://www.wheelerfarm.com/) and the Children's Discovery Museum (http://www.discoverygateway.org) to name a few.

Also, depending on when you'll be there in September, there's the Utah State Fair Sep 9 -19th: http://www.utah-state-fair.com/home/index.php

There's also lots of amazing hiking and walking trails near Salt Lake and Park City. You'll be there just as the trees start to change colors, so you'll get some amazing views.

You can also check out utah.com for lots of other touristy ideas.

Have a great trip!!

Hoogal zoo, thanksgiving point, Tracy Aviary park, In heber city there is the Heber valley rail road which is just 10 min away from park city. Park City is more of a posh hip place that it for adults, and Salt Lake is the more family friendly.
There really is a ton to do up in SLC but I can't think of what there is. Oh in Ogden there is the dinosaur park, but ThanksGiving Point has a better one with more things to do other than just Dinosaurs..

I recently moved back to S. Florida after living in Salt Lake City for 4 years. Utah is very kid friendly...you'll love it. There's Hogle Zoo in downtown SLC that I'm sure your child will love. Thanksgiving Point is also a lot of fun. It's at the southern end of the valley. There is a petting zoo, museums, and gardens (just to name a few). There is always the mountains and in some areas the leaves may have changed by the end of September, lots of hiking trails and streams to picnic near. It is absolutely beautiful. There's a place called Antelope Island on the Great Salt Lake which has a ranch from the turn of the century along with sightings of buffalo and antelopes. Downtown, near the Mormon Church is gorgeous. This time of year may have lots of pumpkin patches for your little one to roam around in. Sorry for all this information...hope it helps. Just so excited that more and more people are visiting Utah b/c I think the state is really misunderstood and it has so much to offer. I moved back only b/c all my family live here...otherwise I would have spent many years there. To answer the second question, I think Salt Lake City has more kid-friendly activities only b/c Park City is more of a snow ski resort town although there are some things happening there. Enjoy!
