Would you be concerned if your toddler/preschooler almost 3yr old thinks that everything is pink when asked what color is this?

What can I do next?

Is this a child who loves pink? Can the child match matching colors -put blue socks together and red socks together etc you can color(paint) samples and cut and make a match game. As long as they can match the different colors they aren't color blind.

A daycare teacher told me she thought my daughter was colorblind when she was almost 3. She isn't. There is a simple test that you can do for preschoolers to determine if they are colorblind. Go to this website, click on test for 3-6 year-olds, find the colored pictures and ask your child what they see.

Maybe, she likes pink thus calls everything pink and/or thinks its funny.
Or... she does not know her colors yet.

As Victoria W. said, if you tell her, to bring you a blue towel, CAN she do that?

At that age, both my kids knew their colors. Accurately.

What does the Pediatrician say? She is due for a 3 year old check up when she is 3.

Color blind?

This is a hard one. I'd ask your pediatrician and follow Riley's advice. A friend or my daughters LOVED saying Yellow, which he pronounced "lellow". Everything was lellow for awhile but I think it was wishful thinking.

oops, I meant Victoria but I liked Riley's advice too.

My son is colorblind....he did not think everything was the same color though....but I would bet your pre-schooler's favorite color is.....pink!
I'd get him/her O. of those color books....where all red stuff, for example, is on O. page (apple, firetruck, etc.).

When my daughter was 3 she would answer pink anytime you asked her what color something was. Even when I would say "What color is that GREEN grass over there?" She would say PINK. I was really worried until one day she was sitting in her room playing with dolls and I was walking past her doorway and she was teaching her doll colors with colored blocks and yes, when she said this is red, green, etc. she was right. I'm not sure if she was just trying to trick me the whole time. LOL

Depends. How old? Can they bring you a blue towel if you ask?

I might think color blindness, honestly (aka "grey" = "pink")... but it's PROBABLY just liking the way the word sounds and feels in their ears and mouth &/or the attention from a wrong answer.

I like Victoria post, ask him to bring you an object of certain color, just to make sure he can see colors and that he is just being silly.
If he can't then the best is to go to the doctor who probably send you to an oculist or he would do some test him self first.
If your son is just being silly, just buckle up, this could be the time when he founds out that he can be silly.
I remember my older daughter asking all kind of silly questions "M., how you would feel if you were purple?" she ask me this question over and over agian for months, not sure if she was expecting and special answer or just liked to be silly.

Maybe it's her favorite or she just likes saying the word, how it sounds? My daughter told us every animal was a frog when she was little because that was her fav. She knew the dog was not a frog but in her little world, it was her rules! Personally I wouldn't be worried!

i'd say we would need more info. a 3 year old if grilled over and over will start to say the same answer each time or say "i don't know" on things they definitely DO know. a three year old can also get pretty sassy, so there may be another reason they are saying the wrong answer each time.

when you say they "think" everything is pink...do they really think that or are they being sassy?
