This is very embarrassing for me! I get these huge bumps in my bikini area that are so painful!!! They swell up really big and red with infection, a couple days later it will come to a head like a pimple, when it pops it's so so nasty and hurts even worse!!! I have been to 3 different doctor's about them(the gynecologist, family doctor,&a nurse practitioner)they all had different opinions of what it was and told me to do different things naturally. I've tried all there suggestion's and more, nothing still except a lot of very uncomfortable pain!!!! I'm embarrassed and distgusted!!!!

What can I do next?

I would try a dermitologist. It's a skin issue. I just took my daughter to Dr. Sanchez who works out of Barnes St. Peters. She can see you quickly - apparently other dermotologists are not available until September! Anyway, she's a little odd but did a quick and painless surgery in the office on my daughter's skin problem. I didn't care for the office staff but the doctor was good. Good luck! (Oh, and Dr. Sanchez is female, which should make it less embarrassing!)

it could be ingrown hairs. i have always done "surgery" on myself to remove them. if you have coarse hair you may need a professional.

if you are shaving or waxing it is a good idea to exfoilaite before hand. after you should treat with neo-sporin or something like that to avoid any germs getting in an open foliicle.

Try cleansing the area with an acne wash - use a natural one like neutrogena and make sure it has salicyic acid in it. I read that this is an effective remedy for razor bumps so maybe it will do the trick for you. Best of luck.

I get these to but not that bad ingrown hairs, did they make sure it wasn't Herpes down there.I hear that they can grow down there like pimples.Don't know much about them don't have them.Anyway I use a needle wipe it with alchol and heat it with a lighter to sterlize it then prick it usually a hair comes out then I pluck it with tweezers. It heals in a day or so.If you are shaving down there make sure it is well cleaned and use a good shaver.

wash with antibacterial soap or an acne-wash Before and After shaving or waxing. There are many bacteria that easily get into open hair follicles causing them to get infected. Follow-up with a product like Bikini-Zone or a neo-sporin type product like someone else mentioned. This really made a difference for me.

Hi, my name is S., and this is in regaurds to your "embarrassing question" If you shave or get waxed in that area it might be in grown hair. My husband used to get them on his legs when he used to shave when he played basketball. And the way you described them is exactly how he used to get them. There is this lotion that we bought for him, it was to thin out the hair there and prevent ingrown hair. And it worked. I got it from a surprise party, and it really works. I hope this helps. And I read your a little about me section. A down syndrome baby is a blessing. I personally dont have a baby with Down Syndrome, but my aunt who i grew up with does. I love her with all my heart, she's the center of our whole family.

Been there and done that a few times! I believe it is just pimples that form every so often and possibly get infected by clogged pours;this can be very common if you shave that area. I've heard (from a doctor once) that this can cause pimples to be more common in the pubic area if women shave. It was his opinion that shaving is not a necessity, but rather an American culture. His point of view is that the public hair is there for a reason and that if one were to remove it, the chance of chapping and pimples forming increases. I would say to just keep the area clean as you would any other area of skin that has the potential for acne. Moreover, you could try an internet search online, Yahoo Answers, or other medical site (some of which might have pictures available that are similar to what you are experiencing).
