Just curious if any mom has thought about this or done it. My husband and I are on our 4th child and I mentioned egg donations to my husband, b/c we know we're done, but we've been so fortuate to have children that it may be nice to help other moms/families out there. Plus it would help to get money since we're going to be feeding another baby and I no longer have a job, but that wouldnt be the main reason to consider. We're done! and we're dangerous..lol one cycle and my husband and i are pregnant. This one was a surprise (i had already gotten rid of alot of things b/c we thought we were done..lol) So before i get fixed, i just thought that since we were so blessed or I should say fertile that perhaps it would help another mom. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

If your up for it, it would be a good thing for an infertal couple however, having looked into it myself a number of years ago, you need to be young as in your twenties. Unless personally know a couple that is having problems, donating your eggs may be difficult. Good Luck

If you have the time and the eggs I appauld you, for someone like me that took 11 years to have a child and couldn't have any more people like you are a God-send. I had fertility treatments as well and there wasn't anything that was too painful, giving birth is painful.......but you know what is more painful? never being able to have a child when you want one so bad! So yes research it and call a center that takes donation they will be happy to answer all your questions and help you through it believe me....good luck and thanks!

I looked into it a couple of years ago and age is an important factor. 30 is the cutoff age. For some clinics even younger. They "prefer" the early 20s and that's why sometimes these clinics focus on college students. There are also other risks, like the needle can perforate one of your ovaries and the use of hormones to stimulate the egg production can also cause ovarian cancer. This doesn't happen to everybody but it's important to consider those risks too. On the pros, you will get very well paid :) Do a lot of research before making this decision. Good luck!

I looked into it also (5 kids, I looked after 3 kids) but was already too old. I even called the clinic and they said I could submit an application but that most people were looking for donors who were under 30. So the poster before me was correct, age does seem to be the most important starting factor.

i actually have considered this. i have two children and might want one in about 5 years but that decision isn't set in stone. i dont even know how to go about donating eggs though. but if the lord has blessed you with the ability to help other women have such a tremendous gift then why not? i think its great that you are considering helping others before you get fixed. the financial help would also be great for you too!
