The trick is hold down the button halfway so the camera can read the lighting. Then, when the cute second happens, fully press the button and the pic. will take right away. Hope that helps!

Hi L.,

Most digital camers have a delay and that is the trade-off we get for having uor pictures instantly. There are so many choices for digital point and shoots, I would first off recommend looking on E-bay to find a great price. I highly recommend Canon and Fuji as I have owned both. Good luck!

That can be a problem with the digital cameras because they are more indicative to still shots. You can take action shots with the digitals if you can find the setting with a symbol for action which is usually a little figure running. Just make sure you have enough light even with SLRs you will need a good lighting and if you are going to follow movement then make sure you have a tripod and that the head can rotate easily.

While Im not sure you will find a camera you will be happy with at that price I will suggest a Panasonic Lumix (DMC-TZ3). Look around and you can probably find a good deal on it ($250ish). My father-in-law is a professional photographer and when we were looking for a camera that would take the picture when we pushed the button (I was SO irritated that I was missing so many shots) he recommended this camera. I LOVE IT. I get some great shots with it and I think its amazing. Its easy to use, smaller but still has a 10x optical zoom and takes great, clear, fast pictures!

I researched this issue extensively before Christmas. The only one to maybe fit in your budget is probably is a Kodak. Try it out in the store. I don't remember the model number but the Kodak with 5x zoom is fast. I almost bought it myself. It is not as small as what I needed. Casio and Sony are both fast but are out of your price range. Good Luck!

I will tell you now that you will not find a cheap digital that does not lag with the shutter. My only suggestion is to turn off the LCD screen and use the eye peice when composing your shot. You may get a quicker shot that way, if your camera allows that option.

As far as I know only the fancy Canon's and cameras of that nature have the quick snap that you are looking for..well that is if you want your picture to turn out. Other cameras have that function w/out the flash but then the child moves too quickly and your picture does not turn out.

I would suggest a Cannon Elph, you will probably have to buy a used or refurbished one if you want to spend 100-150, not sure though. But my photographer friend loves this one for her own personal use when she is out and about.

I just bought a new camera and what you need to look at is the shutter speed, how fast it takes the picture after you hit the button.
